33 years since I was diagnosed since Type 1 diabetes :)

I celebrate every year - I used to be upset with it when I was a child, especially when I saw the movie Steel Magnolias and my parents never wanted me to have children but I have 2 and have battled worse things (oesophageal cancer, the surgery of which made my diabetes brittle). I use the Libre but just wish it had been around as a child.

Hi AoifeMcC ,

I've been a type 1 diabetic for 30+ years and had been using the DEXCOM system for almost 3 years now. I have also been classified as being "brittle" because I drop so fast-- and don't know it. The only way I know that my numbers are going lower than normal is by checking what my DEXCOM says and then testing to see if it's correct. A few times, the DEXCOM had been extremely off and I had to recalibrate to get the system back on track. Does this happen when you use the Libre?

It is not always right for me either as it is a few minutes behind but it tends to be accurate if I am low initially. The surgery for me means that the same food can give me a different absorption profile on different days and I also cannot eat a lot but at least I am still here and am a mum :)
