Is it true the government is dropping subsidising the cost of test strips?

I have type 2 and don't get any test strips prescribed - got cut off about 4 years ago.

Have a look on the. Diabetes.org.uk website and search about this topic. It's been going the rounds on Facebook for ages. Diabetes UK have the full information.

Type 2s who are on metformin or diet only don't get strips etc. However if they are on sitagliptin/gliclacide or insulin which causes hypos, or their levels are really high then they will be given them.

I'm type 2 on metformin and I don't get strips.

I am a T2. Test strips, Contour, are prescribed for me, but I am in the process of obtaining a new tester, Freestyle, and I do get test strips for it. Glucophage instead of metformin is prescribed for me and I use it in conjunction with Insulin, Novo Rapid (After meals) and Optisulin (before bedtime). I am also started to used certain herbs to check on the effect on bloodlevels to cut down on insulin, because I have a feeling that I am insulin resistant at times.
