Type 1a diabetic

Hi, I'm new to the forum and was wondering if anyone else out there has been diagnosed with type 1a diabetes or type 1 1/2 or LADA? Thanks.

Apologies as I don't actually have diabetes but MODY diabetes does run in my mothers side of the family - MODY is several types of diabetes that are caused by dominant genetic variants - meaning that if you have the gene then you will develop the diabetes no matter what you do - my brother inherited the gene from my mother but I didn't.

I find that the explanations of diabetes on the diabetes.co.uk website seem to be quite good and comprehensive explanations and they also seem to have a forum so it might be worth posting there as well

Thanks!

Probably the best description of LADA I have read. I am on two oral agents, no insulin and was diagnosed type 2 six years ago. As a naturally thin person I was tested for GAD. The test was positive and the diagnoses changed to type 1. Both my endocrinologist and my naturopathic doctor told me they thought I was LADA. I control my blood sugar with a very low carbohydrate, grain free nutritional plan. We'll see what the future brings :)
