Please do not trust labs blindly. labs using photometric method/to give very often low readings sometimes lower by 50%!!

Now adays glucometrs available in the market are world class.U have to see u r not using expiry date strips and battery of glucometer is ok.Secondly by glucometer u r testing capillary blood and their values are 15- 20 percent higher than lab test method where u use venous blood.

Manufacturer of Glucometers i.e.Lifescan stipulates condition that glucometers can give Variance of + or - 20% MAXIMUM. iF YOU cOMPLAIN ON THEIR WEB site, they will come ,VERIFY AND REPLACE ,if the variance is Beyond those Limits.Pl complain ,whosoever feels higher variation. All are finding glucometers readinds around 11% Higher to Actuals and so Reduce 11% and note it as reading.

lI have been using One touch Glucometer for the last 15 years. Eventhough often it shows a 10% more than a lab test. the instrument is very handy and provides a rough idea.

It can give an idea but can not be relied on for 100% representation. You can go to a reliable lab, get your random sugar checked , simultaneously get a test from glocometer of the same sample to have an idea of error factor. Repitition of this method several times will give you and idea of percentage correction needed on glocometer reading results of a praticular glucometer. You should do this whenever you change your glucometer..

Glucometers will give reasonable accurate readings if you store strips in a cool place and do not forget to clean your fingers well. Follow manufacturers instructions and you will get satisfactory readings.
