Glucometer: What is the accuracy of... - Diabetes India
Glucometer
after testing from glucometer go to lab and test your blood sugar ,compare the result
regards..pramod
I think they are trustworthy and reliable
After testing I did lab testing . Lab report is about 2o% less
Accuracy of glucometer is based on the standard they supply. If the supplied values agree then you can use it. But one should know that the values at finger tips would be different from blood drawn from your arteris. From blood drawn from arteris plasma is separated and glucose is estimated. These values would be different from finger tips because here total blood is used in estimation. Further it is reflection of perpheral circulation.Hence values from finger tips are more indicative of low, medium high values for management of diabeties.
Reasonably accurate. A calibration sloution is available with J & J it can used to check accuracy.
Use calibration solution to calibrate that is provided by the Glucometer (J & J) Manufacturer with procedure "How to Calibrate", compare one time with lab to find out the differentiation. So this will give you a brief correction to know the deviation. Some +- reading is of not of a much importance, Be happy and Cheerful.
I use Accucheck active with strips from Ebay.100 strips cost approximately 1200/-.Yesterday, I measured my FBS in the lab(Lalpath Lab)it was 102. Just before the lab samples I tested my sample from finger which was 100.But this varies from lot to lot.So before taking a new lot one must calibrate with standard Lab. Thanks.

glucometer readings are not accurate. its main object is to know whether it is hypoglycaemia or hyperglycemia, where it is indicated. moreover its reading is always higher than of lab testing.therefore for rough guidance it may be used in controle.
Do not disappoint + or - 10 mg u keep and follow the glucometer for daily or whenever want For FBS PPBS every 3 or 4 months u may go to lab and test FBS PPBS and HBA1C also For your reference u may assume that your level is + 1o mg and control your BS level
The results obtained from glucometer are only for reference
I think finger tip blood shows more reading than laboratory test from vein reading ?
