Are you already diagnosed to be affected by diabetes? If yes, it is best to follow your doctor's advice. If you are talking about prevention, follow an active lifestyle, do exercises under expert advice, walk preferably in the morning at a stretch for at least 45 minutes to an hour. Also follow a diet prescribed by a qualified dietician. It would depend on your age, activities and many other factors.
