When the beta cells in the pancreas are destroyed no insulin is produced and therefore causes diabetes. The necessity of suplementing the insulin from exeternal sources arises because of the damaged pancreas and is called Type1 diabetes or insulin dependent. No diet contol can help in this case.Type 2 is the one that can be contolled by diet restrictions and proper physical exercise and no direct insulin intake is needed.
