Hi, Thanks for answering my questions.

At this age & with controlled diabetic, the cause might be external more than internal. But still you need to check with your doctor for the medicine you are taking & its side effects.

Also you can have a nerve conduction study or Doppler test ( Little expensive test) to check the flow of the blood in the Legs. These test are for serious symptoms which can not be taken care of otherwise, which you might not need.

For external factor you can take good care of hygiene for your foot & Legs too. Wear 100 % cotton socks or diabetic socks. Leather is prone to give allergy to diabetic patients, so try special diabetic shoes or sports shoes for some time.

Diet, Medicine & Exercises are most important & should be followed religiously. Read these links if possible..

SELF CARE AT HOME FOR DIABETIC FOOT

A person with diabetes should do the following:

Foot examination: Examine your feet daily and also after any trauma, no matter how minor, to your feet. Report any abnormalities to your physician. Use a water-based moisturizer every day (but not between your toes) to prevent dry skin and cracking. Wear cotton or wool socks. Avoid elastic socks and hosiery because they may impair circulation.

Eliminate obstacles: Move or remove any items you are likely to trip over or bump your feet on. Keep clutter on the floor picked up. Light the pathways used at night - indoors and outdoors.

Toenail trimming: Always cut your nails with a safety clipper, never a scissors. Cut them straight across and leave plenty of room out from the nail bed or quick. If you have difficulty with your vision or using your hands, let your doctor do it for you or train a family member how to do it safely.

Footwear: Wear sturdy, comfortable shoes whenever feasible to protect your feet. To be sure your shoes fit properly, see a podiatrist (foot doctor) for fitting recommendations or shop at shoe stores specializing in fitting people with diabetes. If you have flat feet, bunions, or hammertoes, you may need prescription shoes or shoe inserts.

Exercise: Regular exercise will improve bone and joint health in your feet and legs, improve circulation to your legs, and will also help to stabilize your blood sugar levels. Consult your physician prior to beginning any exercise program.

Smoking: If you smoke any form of tobacco, quitting can be one of the best things you can do to prevent problems with your feet. Smoking accelerates damage to blood vessels, especially small blood vessels leading to poor circulation, which is a major risk factor for foot infections and ultimately amputations.

Diabetes control: Following a reasonable diet, taking your medications, checking your blood sugar regularly, exercising regularly, and maintaining good communication with your physician are essential in keeping your diabetes under control. Consistent long-term blood sugar control to near normal levels can greatly lower the risk of damage to your nerves, kidneys, eyes, and blood vessels.

I M 56 YEARS OLD AND A DIABETIC FOR THE LAST 12 YEARS; I M ON MEDICATION AND WALK AT LEAST FOR AN HOUR EVERYDAY; MY DIET HAS BEEN REDUCED FROM 100% TO 15% AND I EAT SWEETS, FRUITS ( DRY & WET) INCLUDING EGGS FOR 3 DAYS A WEEK. HOWEVER MY WEIGHT HAS BEEN REDUCING CONSISTENTLY AND IT HAS COME DOWN TO 50 KGS WHICH IS LESS COMPARED TO MY HEIGHT 5'7". I M PLANNING TO TO DO A WHOLE BODY CHECK UP AS MY SUGAR LEVER IS ABOVE 200 PP. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE REASON FOR THE WEIGHT LOSS.

I too get burning sensation in the feet.I apply a moisturizing cream on the feet and get relief.

For pain in the legs, try to keep both the feet at a higher level for sometime. You may get relief.

For constipation, best remedy is water.Drink plenty of water. In a bad case, drink a bottle of water. You will get results.

Reduction of blood supply, and reverse flow of blood to liver, spleen and heart case stagnation in foot, indicating your heart is unable to pump both ways in sending and receiving back the blood. Get these items checked by an heart specialist and also by a diabetologist.

I needed new travel Orthotic sneakers and a pair of comfortable dress shoes for a trip we are taking this summer. Orthofeet was recommended by my Physio Therapist. The website is easy to navigate and the ordering process was simple. The delivery took a little longer than I expected because I am in Canada. I did have to pay customs fees as well. But the shoes are great! They fit true to size and they are beautiful and VERY comfortable. Very happy with my purchase. orthofeet.com/collections/d...
