There are more and more people writing articles, bringing books out on diet and fruits and drinks. people write books to make money go on TV to make money as well. If you see the clothing they wear at u-tube delivery, you can ask, can all ladies be a perfect 10? We are what we gained from our parents!!!
Let us have a good discussion on what an average person can do to control blood glucose.?
In UK, there is NHS, diabetes.org, "diabetes.co.uk" and many more doctors are writing helpful information. Average person struggles in day to day living due the the availability of real heap to control blood glucose. There is also limited blood tests, only HbA1c for dictates to start with.
WE can see in an article only to eat 30 chick peas, can we be satisfied with only eating 30 chick peas? Only eating green leafs for lunch?
Can we only eat counting 5 nuts, 1/2 BANANA, and 1/3 cup of rice with small quantity of veg curries.?
OR
Do you take medication and eat what you want and live day by day?

Good point Sandy has raised...thank you sandy for that ! There are many books, articles , you tube presentations on how to control diabetes ? Some are based upon practical approach with long term Research & Study carried out for 20/30/40 years upon huge population at various countries and some other experts just present their views based on Theories.
There is a saying "the real proof of the pudding is in eating"
The most important thing is what works for you very well - not only in terms of stable blood glucose level but all other health parameters ?? This is important as monitoring health parameters of diabetes will avoid future complications- this is an universal medical advice given for diabetes across the world by the medical practitioners..in fact all tests for diabetes as a package is available in all hospitals / Pathology Labs.....and there are several packages containing different types of tests have been formulated whether it is quarterly, half yearly or annual check up.
So we encourage all members to post their diabetic profile, dietary details and post their result ...I assure you that there would be a healthy discussion .....and we can definitely learn and share from each other's experience to our mutual benefit - Pl do maintain your privacy , hide you name , address,...please don't share your mobile number , bank account number, credit card number , pin, your pass word, your email id.....even if some member asks you in a Pvt chat ... I find , barring very few people who happened to eat mainly plant based diet who recently posted their result..similarly I once again request other members who practise other kind of diets such as Palio, keto, a strict LCHF diet , people eating animal based fat and protein to share their experience and post their comprehensive report..for learning & sharing. And if someone has been able to reverse diabetes / insulin resistance with a low carb diet or any other diet , please dont hesitate to share for benefit of all members . . By doing so you are doing a favour to others ....and by sharing your feedback , you are not going to lose anything- rather you may gain some knowledge by the discussion by members... it is a forum to share our own experience ! Everyone is eager to learn...
Diabetes is as Ancient as Mankind and so also the low carb diet....the moment one is diagnosed with diabetes, people blame the carbs and so everyone restricts it irrespective of its source and types - whether it is healthy or not .. ... So low carb diet is not a new science .....the low carb diet is not a new concept ......the concept was born with discovery of Diabetes itself.......I believe if there were such one fit solution for all, there would not have been 500 million diabetes across the world today.
So the only way is we learn and share from each other's experience to benefit to our mutual interest from our health point of view, though it is not necessary that what works out for you will work out for others- it may or may not !

Overeating and Empty Calories are the cause of most( not all) diseases. That is why diabetes T2, Hypertension, Cholesterol are called lifestyle diseases.The solution seems to be nutrient-dense food + Calorie restriction + Movement.
The question was very good, however, the responses are very vague or not answering the questions. Not that I have any expertise, however, following are some of the things I have been trying to do;
1. Intermittent Fasting - Avoid breakfast ; so having 16 hrs of fasting=only eating in 8 hours window, additionally not eating after 6PM.
2. I used to eat eggs, chicken, occasionally fish thinking that I need animal protein source. However, it has not helped my A1C numbers any different . So I am now trying to go to totally Plant based diet , having proteins with beans, Pea Protein drinks, avoiding wheat, have besan, very lttle rice occasionally, have lentils, lots of salads and fruits. I am going to monitor myself after two months to see where my numbers are.
3. Avoid all animal fats including Milk, Yogurt, Paneers, cheeses, all dairy, no sugar
4. I am thinking to add slow digesting Carbs like Jawar, Bajra, Quinoa etc., even though the Carbs are high , however, I feel if they are slow digesting it should have a minimal impact on my A1C numbers.
No, I have not. My doctor here only interested as what he can prescribe for medication and suggests that I should eat healthy diet and exercise. For so many years that has been the protocol, however, I need to control my own health. Yes, I still would like him to monitor my results after blood test that I do every 3 months. I am not trying anything in extreme.
I have changed now my diet to completely whole food plant based (WFPB) following Cyrus Khambata , Dr. Neal Barnard and Mcduggal site. I checked my morning sugar, it was 98. Wow, I have not seen that kind of number forever. I hope it continues with this new regimen. I will update as I continue to go more deeper . As of today, I still have about 2 spoonful's of milk for each time for morning and evening tea One habit that is difficult to give up). I almost have no oil, only using sparingly to cook Indian style veggies with 0 fat Avocado oil spray. I am still having erythritol and munk fruit sweetener for tea. I have a big bowl of fruits (banana, apple, blueberries, cantaloupe, orange) for breakfast. Lunch 1 or 2 chapatis with some vegetable, evening time mostly beans, salad or some combination of fruit smoothie sometimes. I do not conclude that this is the solution to reverse my diabetes yet, however, I am enjoying the journey and trying to get rid of rest of the bad habits that I have listed. I lost almost 4 lbs weight in the process. My blood test is due now, however, I want to wait a bit so that I can see some impact of this new regimen that I started on 27th August.
