You are new to this forum. This is a good step towards getting help but, first you need to see a doctor.

Plan life style change, controlling food and drinks intake, regular exercise.

Buy a small dish and small plate to take smaller portion of food.

Am I diabetic at 8.6% ?, take a look at the very top of the page, from 5% to 7% it is green, changing to amber and then red!!!

8.6 is in the middle and amber, depending up on your age, weight, height, waist you need to work hard to bring down slowly the % number.

You can see next to your post, few older posts, related posts, do take time to read all of them to help you.

Take care.

When was your A1c done? When was your last appointment with your doctor (phone/in office)? Did your doctor suggest a change to your diet?

Diabetes is diagnosed with the following blood tests:--

Fasting blood glucose level -- diabetes is diagnosed if it is higher than 126 mg/dL two times

Random (non-fasting) blood glucose level -- you may have diabetes if it is higher than 200 mg/dL, and you have symptoms such as increased thirst,

urination, and fatigue (this must be confirmed with a fasting test)

Oral glucose tolerance test -- diabetes is diagnosed if the glucose level is higher than 200 mg/dL after 2 hours

Hemoglobin A1c test

Normal: Less than 5.7%

Pre-diabetes: Between 5.7% and 6.4%

Diabetes: 6.5% or higher.

In your case Fasting blood sugar (FBS) and Postprandial blood sugar (PPBS) are above normal. You can control high blood sugar by diet and exercise. Recheck your blood sugar on weekly basis.

Please take a look at this link:

knowledgetablet.blogspot.co...

"The state of increased blood sugar level (above 140mg/dl) is known as Hyperglycemia and the decreased blood sugar level is Hypoglycemia (Below 70mg/dl).

The normal range of blood sugar is

RBS - 70-130mg/dl

FBS - 70-115mg/dl

PPBS-70-140mg/dl

R B S - Random blood Sugar test, is also common to monitor blood glucose levels. In this case, the blood sample can be taken at any time irrespective of the consumption of food."

Take care.
