it was a general question.. if c-peptide shows normal value and the person is diabetic, what exactly it means?? Insulin production is fine.. but why blood sugar not in control?? my doubt is that whether produced insulin in not having its quality>> or body cell is not using this insulin available??
(1) the affected person is likely to have strong Insulin Resistance !
(2) He is also likely to be an obese
Perhaps , a lot of physical exercise, weight reduction and proper dietary modification could be of help to ensure that the cells take up the blood glucose
He should also consult a doctor to test all other parameters !
I always read your response to get information and understanding.
When I Goggled for ratio,, I got the following information.
"Definition. Insulin and C-peptide are secreted into portal vein in equimolar amounts, but serum ratio = 1:5 to 1:15 due to removal of approximately 50% of insulin from blood during initial passage through the liver. ... Normal range: fasting molar ratio insulin to C-peptide = 1.0."
Since the half-life of C-peptide is longer than insulin, its levels in the blood are always higher than insulin, making it a more reliable measure of insulin production.
Let me take an example of my blood test readings taken in last November.
