Dark patches of skin occur about the ankles and lower legs in persons who suffer from Venous Stasis. Venous stasis is caused by an accumulation of fluid in the lower extremities. This is due to poor venous return of blood to the heart. Venous blood flow back to the heart occurs by way of the veins in the feet and legs.

you need to take your mother in low to a doctor or a specialist who is medically qualified.

1. Need a full examination.

2. With out a photo it becomes a assumption game.

3. A doctor will have access to full medical record.

4. I am afraid this site may not give you the answers you are looking for!

Go and see a dermatologist/ related consultant. We need to understand, that not everything can and should be suggested from here.
