I agree with the contents of the report.
As such also, for vegetarians it is difficult and impossible to go on extremely low carb diets. All plant foods including fruits, grains and beans/pulses have atleast 50- 60% of carbs. Not only it is damaging to our established system, it is not possible to eat only dairy items, nuts, eggs and meat even for non-vegetarians.
LCHF is a unnecessary hype especially in online media. Noone really knows what will be long term effects of such diet especially for those who take extremely low carb diet with 20% or less carbs.
Any kind of diet is not suitable to everyone. No one size fits all. Everyone is different. Not eating enough carbs can reduce the current insulin sensitivity in diabetics also.... We have to keep insulin work for us to be able to maintain hormonal balance. The people who take extremely low carbs below 20% of total intake everyday, insulin (whatever released from pancreas...though pancreas may not be 100% efficient) ceases to work...gradually...as such protein also stimulate insulin but to a much lesser extent than carbs...so when we eat very less carbs whatever efficiency of pancreas was existing will also cease to exist...and this will disrupt all the hormonal balances because Insulin is the main hormone involved in metabolism.

No.You are talking of disuse atrophy but insulin never / can never cease to be secreted. It's required also for protein synthesis and muscle building. We should not forget that as much as 30% of the protein and 10% of fat can get converted to glucose. So even if there is no glucose intake body is never devoid of glucose. Gng.Also there are three types of amino acids. Ketogenic.Glucogenic and ketoglucogenic.Lchf is perfect for diabetics. And those who are warning against and scaring us of early deaths and increased cardiac risks associated with lchf have ? vested interest or are bluffing. Lchf is still a newer concept and it needs decades to pronounce anything about it with certainty. I'm of the opinion that such remarks are never possible. There are so many reasons for death and early or late death can't be assigned to any single factor. More important is our quality of life which improves tremendously after lchf diet. It's useless to fill a machine with the fuel(s) which it can't utilise. It's a common sense and not a big science.
And fibers we can add by using isapgul, chia seeds or very low carb vegetables and sprouts etc.
This is just a study that gives us the trends in a particular group of people. Since diabetesT2 is a symptom of faulty carbohydrate metabolism it's logical to limit carb intake. Total elimination is not possible though so one should pick nutrient dense foods that are fibre rich. Foods of animal origin are known to cause oxidative stress whether high carb or low carb. Going for nuts is a good idea even though they have high fat content because they are nutrient dense. I followed LCHF diet during initial phase to control my Hba1c n blood sugar levels. Now also I follow low carb options but focus more on veggies portions and less on fats or proteins. It has helped me achieve almost normal range of Hba1c. My test is due but last time it was 5.7 a few months back.
I read that high omega 6 contents in the vegetable oils, imbalanced omega 3 to omega 6 levels are known to cause inflammation and CVD. Also if high fat is consumed along with high carb in same meal is also cause more damage. When data is collected by survey I do not know how precisely data is collected and interpreted. Since lot of us are on LCHF, can anyone help to interpret and understand it better. We do not want to eat our meals with fear and add one more tension. I have also read A1c level more than 8 increases glycation and increases mortality as well as lowering a1c less than 6 using medicine also increases mortality. I do not know it is side effect of drug or low sugar level? Due to high insulin resistance, may be higher sugar gradient is required to push glucose inside the cell for energy. Low sugar level and inability to burn fat may reduce metabolism. Can any one help. Thanks
Sorry, "may" not is not good enough. From what most know, he had low carbs. He knew his stuff, has trained olympians, helped many get shredded and stronger, break records. But, I don't think established science can account for dietary effects on vastly different persons.
There is evidence that animal-based foods increase the risk of cancer. Will post ref.s if needed.
Animal protein is mainly saturated fats. And yes it's related to not just increased risk of cancer but also host of other problems. So basically I tried to shift to plant based diet with excluding even dairy , sugar, added salt, apart from most of processed foods and results have been amazing believe me! I would urge everyone to give it a try n see the difference!
Eating carbs is not the issue . The issue is over eating . Any excess eating has to go through the drain . Here the excess gets turned in to excess sugar and excess fat . The solution lies in eating balanced diet in balanced and moderate quantities . Lchf or medicines are going to complicate the issue by taking metabolism out of gear . More than the issue of quantity is quality . If pollution at all things at all levels is stopped no one gets any disease .
