Unfortunately, you have to plan for the long haul for managing diabetes. You can bring down the sugar levels in one or two weeks with intense efforts, but aim should be to manage them within in reference range.Following are some suggestions that will help you in that direction.
First and foremost, you should be thoroughly knowledgeable about diabetes, because ultimately it is you who will have to take all the steps to manage your diabetes.Use the search function on this web page to access all earlier posts on this site to get answers for all your questions and clear your doubts so that you can chart an effective course of action. You should concentrate four areas particularly,i.e.diet control, adequate physical activity, stress free lifestyle and as a balancing factor, medicines prescribed by a good doctor. For diet, understand two concepts called glycemic index and glycemic load so that you can decide what exactly to eat and how much to eat.For physical activity, you should indulge in some form of physical activity of your choice, like walking relatively briskly for about 40 minutes daily.Stress is bad for a diabetic, and hence you have to manage your stress levels by leading a disciplined life or doing yoga or listening to your favorite soothing music etc.Lastly, you have to go for quarterly and annual checkups and take the prescribed medicines scrupulously.Lastly,it takes lot of effort and will power to tackle diabetes but it is possible.
Lastly, considering your young age,I suggest you open the link below to know about what is called LADA.Just for information.
Welcome to the group, Vipinvnair. Did you check your blood sugar at home? Random Blood Sugar above 200 mg/dl indicates diabetes but it has to be confirmed by other tests. Secondly, Glucometers are not that accurate it can be off by as much as 15%. I will not conclude anything from just one reading considering your young age.
It is good that you are concerned about your health. You should first see your Doctor and discuss further tests to confirm your conditions. After that let us know your results and what Doctor says. Good luck.
