My blood sugar 241 after food
A balanced diet is best for you . Read about it on Internet and make a diet of your choice and liking.
You might be eating more of foods that cause immediate spike in blood sugar.Understand a beneficial concept called glycemic index.It is given to each type of food.Sugar,rice,wheat,potato etc are given higher index because they are loaded with carbohydrates that cause immediate spike in sugar.You have to either avoid or consume less of such foods.On the other hand,foods like pulses,dairy,vegetables,greens etc.should be eaten more and more.You should try various combinations to suit your taste,at the same time meeting your nutritional needs.You have to follow another concept called glycemic load.It means that even if an item is good,you cannot eat beyond certain quantity so as to avoid overloading.You have to limit portion sizes and eat at more frequent intervals.Do some trial and error and observe what is happening to your sugar levels.Search on google.You will get all the information you need.If in doubt,come back to this forum.
Please note that while GL (glycemic load) is the same for any/every one as its the nature of the food, FI (glycemic index) is the reaction of the body to the food based on insulin sensitivity. While it might be relevant to public at large, it might vary for diabetics on a case to case basis and not applicable in a lot of cases. Ideally one might want to test with the meter to understand one's response to food with varying GI. Personally, GI is irrelevant to me in my case and only the net carbs in the food is.
I agree with you.We can only discuss in general terms,but when it comes to individual specific,each has to come to his own conclusions based on his personal knowledge preferences.
GL is absolute and quantitative and hence does not have a person dependency. GI is relative in terms of quantification and hence varies person to person based on each individual. Therefore while it is individual specific, that is cause of that individual's physiology and hormonal responses ( insulin specifically in this case) and hence conclusion cannot be drawn from personal knowledge preferences, but from personal observations based on data relating to oneself.
Adopt low-carbohydrate diet. Dietary fiber in the diet slows down the assimilation of glucose in the blood. Good sources of dietary fiber include:--
* Whole grains
* Nuts and seeds
* Fruit and vegetables
Eat less food more times in a day.
Walk for 15 minutes after each meal.
