Diabetes and IBS
Changes in your diet may be helpful. However, IBS varies from person to person. So the same changes may not work for everyone.
Keep track of your symptoms and the foods you are eating. This will help you look for a pattern of foods that may make your symptoms worse.
Avoid foods that cause symptoms. These may include fatty or fried foods, dairy products, caffeine, sodas, alcohol, chocolate, and grains such as wheat, rye, and barley.
Eat 4 to 5 smaller meals a day, rather than 3 larger ones.
Increase the fiber in your diet to relieve symptoms of constipation. Fiber is found in whole grain breads and cereals, beans, fruits, and vegetables. Since fiber may cause gas, it is best to add these foods to your diet slowly.
Please try probiotic cultures available in market with different strains of bacteria and maintain a healthy gut, in addition to the suggestions made by others, ascertain the actual factor that triggers IBS and eliminate, the probiotics worked very well in my case.
thank you very much for your suggestion.iI am also thinking of pro biotics lately but not sure of taking them with out doctors advise. Can you suggest me the do s and donts of taking probiotics
.Actually it would be helpful if you can suggest one.....
There are number of probiotics with multiple strains of bacteria, each one targeting a specific out come, but for I B S strains of strepto coccus of thermophilus (acid Producer), lacto bacillus acidophilus, b. Casei etc, are good, numbers of cell count running in multiple millions/gm, suggest you make butter milk and add half to one tab and stir it, myself open the culture capsule and add only the content which is dry form and take it after lunch, high numbers mean not a big thing as only a small number survive the acid environment in the stomach and move to alkaline conditions in the intestines, I am sure you see the change which should help in addition to all other precaution of less salt, less spice, less pungent, less alcohol, less stress etc.

In case of severe IBS, the interment expulsion of colon/diarrhea common and reacts quickly to any changes in food habits or medicines, there would be a set rules which satisfies all requirements and in addition everybody behaves differently, however with few trials one has to establish what works best and identify the factors that would trigger IBS and reduce there intake. With Diabetes medication, if we look at the number of oral medicines we consume in addition to mineral and vitamin supplements, they are a lot in number, each doing its own function leaving behind some side effect. Also visit your family Dr and seek his advise as well.
This is something like including butter milk/ yoghurt /curds etc in every meal, in order to maintain a healthy colon/gut, it needs to be supplemented everyday and make it a habit to add probiotic culture into a glass of butter milk, mix well and consume after meal in addition to taking multi vitamins or minerals or diabetic medicines etc, if you are taking.
