Dear All,

I recently diagnosed with Diabetes. My right nose blocks frequently especially during night and also bunged up and sneezing a lot.

Is there any link with Diabetes. My H1BAc is 5.8 now ( It was 11.5 some 4 Months back). Please suggest.

Should i go and meet doctor or is there any medicine available in Pharmacy to cure this.

Most probably you have deviated nasal septum . Please consult ENT specialist.

Sounds like an allergy problem. Often the symptoms are mistaken for common cold. Try taking a 24 hour antihistamine like zyrtec and stay away from exposure to dust, smoke etc. If it is allergies and the nasal irritation/ congestion is a result of allergies, the antihistamine should help but it could take a couple days or so for the congestion to get under control.

For the congestion keep "saline nasal spray" handy. It helps sooth the nasal inner lining and will open up the nostrils. Steam inhalation will help too. Please do not make your own saline nasal spray out of tap water and table salt.

thnak you shalip and yes your are correct. I met ENT spcialist dosctor gave me Rinoclenil spray to puff it daily for 1 month and allergy tablet fexodine 10 tabs daily.. I hope this will not incrase my sugar level..

It's an allergic issue. Don't go to an ENT specialist. He will suggest you to go for Surgery seriously. I was having bad throat / sneezing 15 years back. This ENT specialist strongly advised me to go for Surgery to correct my deviated septum. I neglected. I am OK and no issues as of now. Sneezing is a natural process of eliminating Allergens. Try "adhatoda vasica" Homeopathic Mother Tincture 20 drops in warm water 3 times or the same powder (adhatoda) small quantity with half spoon honey. you will be cured fast.

Thank you Harish. I will think about it if doctor say so as of now he asked to take the above medicine for 1 month and he also said that it will be cured as this is a very common in these region.

Even the climate is changing erratically  now a days. Infections are common. It's better to avoid Nasal spray and these medicine has it's own side effect. Fexodine / Allegra 120 in short term is OK. Don't get used to this "Nasal Spray".

Hmmmm....Guess he is asking if there is any link between Diabetes and nasal congestion.

His Hba1c was 11.5 and within 4 months 5.8.What does that means???

In very next month after getting diagnosed as diabetic ,,,his blood sugar came down to normal . This is really amazing.

May be he is one strong dose of drugs or on strict LCHF diet.Or maybe he is normal but due to some external reasons developed D2

There are few recent researches shows a strong relationship between 'SLEEP APNEA' and D2.

Great...simple great.....

here is one good article about TG/HDL ratio

I have no sinus. When my BS falls due to medication or Diet control I find similar symptoms. Try LCHF that time, 2 eggs scrambled in dollop of oil. Fried fish at night

thank you anil.  I am already on LCHF and benefited from BS - as mentioned above from 11.5 to 5.8...... This one is becuase of allergy the same was confirmed by doctor...

in reply toNiranjanGhosh

Did you have this problem when you were 11.5? If no allergy then, then how now? Babu Moshay allergy is often a way to keep you on visits and money. Fast reduction of BS is good but very painful. I am not a doctor, but excuse me for sharing my experience.

If my Doctor had his way, he would treat me one day for cold, another day for dry nostrils, one day for constipation, next for loose tummy. Please ask questions.

Drop mustard oil one drop in your nostrils. The one you use for fish frying

Anil sir.. Mustard oil is a good idea. I will try this today. And to be very frank i am pessimistic towards Medicine from my Child hood. I avoid taking any kind of medicine and believe in dadi ma ka nuksaaa.. and i did the same to reduce my BS...And yes i used to sneaze when my BS was very high.. My TG is still high and i am working on it .. hope it will rid away soon....You guys are my only Inspiration... thank you all....

I am T2Dm for the last 15 years.I had worst sinus infection and there was pus like discharge. Was taking antibiotics 15 days in a month but of no help. Finally I underwent FESs surgery of sinus in 2010.TheENT surgeon told me it is not good to allow any inf/pus inside the body especially for diabetics. After surgery I got 90% relief and no sinus problem.I am also doing neti using common salt/baking soda everyday as per ENT DOC advice that that would ward off sinus/cold/allery to a large extent.I shared my experience , however response may differ as diff persons have diff body constitution and respons.
