Stress and diabetes
The intestine is connected to the brain using hormone and nerve signals that go back and forth between the bowel and the brain. These signals affect bowel function and symptoms. The nerves can become more active during stress. This can cause the intestines to be more sensitive and contract more.

As I understand it,some of are victims of what are called psychosomatic disorders. It means, psychological disorders manifesting themselves as physiological disorder.Stress,is a mental disorder due to the inability of the mind to adjust to the rapidly changing environment. As we can easily observe, each one of us has an unique personality, and therefore react to the environment in his or her unique manner. But one thing is certain that we cannot withstand stress if subject to long periods consistently.Stress causes increased breathing rate, increased heart rate, higher BP etc.Since this is not normal, body reacts in it's own fashion. As per the individual's genetic make up the body diverts the stress into a physical disorder.Like,if you have an inherited diabetes gene from your parents, the stress relieves itself as diabetes.Of course, other extenuating factors like obesity, lazy and/or disorderly lifestyle do contribute in this process. Not only diabetes, there are a class of these psychosomatic disorders ,like higher BP, IBS eczema etc. These are not diseases like TB which can be cured by medication. They have to be managed by changing the lifestyle like we do in diabetes. It means that by avoiding or reducing stress we can expect to have better results in managing disorders like diabetes
I hope others on the forum will contribute more on this subject,as my knowledge about this is rather old.
