Recently, in a post by someone in the forum, I read about dates in combination with poha (aval). Can you please explain? I am interested.

Diabetics are advised not to consume dates.

Thank you all for your prompt reply about dates. Dates, dry fruits and fruits are not part of my diet, but now, for sure, totally out.

This dates and poha regime -- I was following about 20 years back. I have discontinued it since then.

Dates are high in calories and carbs.

In fact around 80% of this fruit is made up of carbs.

But one thing more, its been found that inspite of having high carb content their glycemic index is not that high, That means that they will not spike your blood sugar rapidly.

If you want to achieve normal blood sugar than dates are completely No-No.

But if you craving to new food you can try 3-4 pieces of date. Make sure to check your blood sugar after the interval of 1-2-4 hours to understand your body reaction to this new food.
