How are everybody here?

I am Type 2 diabetic with hypertension and hypothyroidism since 3 years. My latest HbA1c is 6.2 but since a month, my FBS is increased from 100 to 120-127 mg/dl. So, I am just worried for that.

How to reduce FBS? Help anybody?

Hi PInky,

You have not mentioned about any medication you are taking, however I presume you are taking some medicine. 127 is high if you are already taking some medicine.

However you can manage it if you fine tune your diet... Some tips are given below:-

>> Avoid 3 big meals. Instead take small mini meals every 2/3 hours. Take green vegetables/salad with every minimeal.

>> Eat whole grain food/grains like ragi, wheat, jowar instead of refined grains like maida/ sooji/ white bread etc.

>> Cut out bread, pizza, burgers, noodles, pasta, buns completely.

>> Reduce foods with high GI Index like potato, white rice, banana, mango.

>> Avoid all forms of simple sugars like Colas, juices, sweets, cakes, biscuits...

>> Eat fruits with low/medium GI index like apple, guava, mosambi, orange.

>> Do at least 30-45 mins of exercise everyday. Walk for 10 mins after every meal..

>> These steps can help reduce sugar levels.

Few suggestions

Start carbohydrate control

Intake of proteins to be increased. Add up good fats like butter, ghee.

One teaspoon of VCO or Virgin coconut oil 3 times a day helps thyroid function

Stop sugar if u are taking it & use stevia drops instead

Start ACV Apple cider vinegar 1 teaspoon in a glass of water diluted before breakfast & Dinner.

Use only non starchy vegs,.

Only garlic & onions from underground vegs allowed.

Paneer , Rajma, Channa daal are beneficial

If u can take eggs then this is the best Breakfast food

Overnight soaked ALmonds & Walnuts

Peanuts. Green tea.

Minimise all fruits.

At least one lemon per day & best to have two / day. Squeeze in ACV above.

Get a blood sugar meter at home so you can keep testing & seeing how you react to varoius foods..

Green juice in morning made of karela & Amla.

A pinch of cinnamon daily in above or with ACV or in your tea

Option of using coconut milk in coffee in place of milk.

All the best..

Have as minimum carbohydrates as possible also not refined have whole ones and don't so fine tune your fasting to 100. It is good control if you keep it less than 125 for a diabetes patient taking medicine, followed by 30 mts walking daily and stress-free life, be happy, the body is great, it takes care most of the time if you are disciplined in food and lifestyle

I will give a little history of the values of fasting and PP, who controls them here is the interesting fact. Before 1967 the fasting was 140. WHO decreased it to 126 later in 2003 the American Diabetes Association made it 100 after this nearly 60% of Indians became Diabetes, who are these people behind WHO the 7 big pharmaceutical companies, for their money making spree thus they decide who is diabetes. thus relax and have good day.

Do you mean fasting blood level of 120-140 mg/dl is normal?

I just gave the history how fasting was brought down from 140 to 100 this is to make a good fortune by the pharma companies, A Japanese book says that a diabetes patient should maintain fasting below 125 and 2 hours post meal/ random less than 200. However one can keep it as less as possible by various methods, but don't get unduly worried if readings are not with in the range for short period as diabetes our endeavor should be to correct it.

Fasting blood sugar should be less than 100 mg/dL and post prandial blood sugar must be less than 140 mg/dL.

Do not consume food after 7:00 pm.
