I am not able to reduce weight because of hypothyroidism. Recently increased dose of Thyroxin since TSH level went high before few months. Though I reduce couple of kgs after increasing dose...it is stagnant now...have to reduce calorie intake and carbs.. very difficult to plan all meals as per diabetes and can't gorge on only veggies or fruits...grains do not let the weight go down...

Thanks for your guidance and I know that amount of carbs to be reduced but not sure how to count carbs while eating each meal. even legumes/beans contains carbs...I don't eat rice much as though...so wheat is my main grain...even if I think of shifting to Barley roti or eat oats in breakfast sometimes, still all have carbs...anyway cutting back totally on potato and rice now....

You are right in a way, that reduction in calories doesn't work for long term weight management issues....

Could you give me some list of which foods should be preferred and which food should be avoided to minimize carbs intake? I am vegetarian...also tell me what are the healthy fats to be included in diet...eat ghee on roti/Khakhra...eat nuts sometimes....fast on fruit/milk once a week....intermittent fasting is good for insulin resistance and the current LCHF is worth following actually as I read about it a lot...

We use filtered groundnut oil for cooking ...is it not good enough? Or shall I switch it to coconut oil altogether for myself? Can I eat fried items then more often like Pakoda and other fried snacks of protein i.e made of daals, legumes etc...if high fat diet is what I should follow? Shall I cut back on wheat totally due to gluten? Will it have a positive effect on diabetes and hypothyroidism to remove gluten from diet?

If you drop the carbohydrate you MUST increase fat:

I am already pure vegetarian and eliminating cow's milk and milk items won't be possible as of now as I have started on gluten free diet for 3 months trial for my thyroid problem...eliminated wheat because of gluten and rice because it is high GI. Eating bajri ki roti and oats, will try sprouted ragi flour, eating all beans/legumes for protein and check my blood tests after 3 months. Then, go from there.

Anyway, thanks for your suggestion but doing lot of things at a time would be difficult as I have severe nutritional deficiencies which I have to correct first.

ok, generally I don't get infection, fever etc....may be viral sometimes for couple of day in season.

For autoimmune disease, I have bought one book "The autoimmune Solution' by Amy Meyers. I will read and see then how to go about it since no. of my TPO antibodies is quite large. Presently taking selenium supplement to reduce that as prescribed by doctor.

thnks
