Sleeping late at night.

Last meal I ate was 2 fried eggs in VCO at 5:30 pm. My reading at 9:30 pm was"78" but this morning my pbs was "105". I don't understand why. I don't do any kind of walk or exercise due to cold weather and I sleep around 1:00-1:30 in the late night. What could be a reason. Please assist. Thanks.

What do you eat before bed (type of snack)?

Mostly nothing.

Maybe, try a snack bar with protein in it before bed. If you're running lower than normal, have a yogurt with it.

I amn't running lower than normal but concern is why it's more than evening before when I had my last meal at %;30 pm and ate nothing after. Last check was 4 hrs. after at 9:30 pm and it was "78" but next morning it was "105". That's what confuses me. Thanks.

Do you usually run that high/low before eating? Some people can drop a little after meals and snacks, but others can go high just the same.

Was '105' your morning FBS? As you mentioned in your first post pbs.

Correct. Thanks.

It doesn't make sense to me either. Normally, BSL before bedtime should be slightly lower or remain the same in the morning for FBS, not going higher. Looking forward to hear someone could explain this too.

Good learning here, thanks Anup.

Very correct अनूप. It depends on body to body. When body consider low sugar than liver starts to dump sugar in to blood to overcome the situation. I think it is Totally normal until and unless BS goes on high level. In my case when my sugar gouse less then 90 mgdl it shoots to 100-105 after 15-20 Minutes without having any food.

Is it OK if liver starts dumping sugar into blood.

in reply toHarikishan

As per my belief it's harmless unless and until BS goes more than normal. But please be informed that I am not a doctor. And every person have different body types. For one person 200 mgdl is very high and for other person 200 mgdl can be normal. My friends mother went in to coma when her BS reached to 210 mgdl and could be saved by hospitalized for 2 months. But in my case my BS reached to 470 mgdl when I was diagnosed though my body was feeling normal.

Normally the pancreatic insulin secretion takes care of increased bs due to liver dump or dawn phenomena but in D there is conked off insulin response and effect. So high fbs more than 100 shows weakness to deal with nocturnal glucose load.😊😊

Is Liver dumping is harmful?Anup ji.

@Anup

It's a hormonal play. Cortisol and other stress hormone levels increase in the middle of the night as a natural circadian rhythm probably to prepare our body for daytime activities.
