To start, we have a new Admin. and it is cure! nbreight is no longer going to be the second Admin for the DI group. cure and I both will be here and at DRWF if you need us for anything.
Second thing, we have a New Members List for the Pin Post section. If you haven't already, please take a look at the updates that have been made and also follow the posting so you know when we have a new member joining so you can welcome them.
It wasn't working out with nbreight. I had to make the best choice for the group and its interest. Since cure is already an Admin. on DRWF (like me), he can do all the same duties that I'm doing for you, too. No change except people. We will always have 2 Admin. at all times. If someone isn't around, I will get a sub. for everyone to help.
Do you want to join? Everyone can if they want, but you need to click on the group's Follow button they have on the right hand side of the screen at the top and a green checkmark will show up if you click follow. Lots of friendly members are there.
I mean, there may be different remedies for same problem...so let people choose and have a go...can be kept as a reference or for study...for instance somebody like Sk45 may be a Homeopath, and @Cure may be a Ayurveda expert...may be @anup a web expert...bring them together, have data in the locker and share whomever want it...
further..it is said that in coming years T2 will grow very fast in Indian population... and therefore this forum can be used as educational platform even for non diabetic ppl... so we all active members should spread the word...
I actually stumbled upon this HU group by happy accident, while searching for some advice, some guidelines to help deal with my daughter's diabetes and breast cancer, both diagnosed at the same time. The hospital and the doctors are good, but I felt that we need to do something beyond just take medicine.
The LCHF diet came as a total surprise to me. And when I persuaded my daughter to try it, it seemed to work. She is 37, overweight; but her weight is now down from 130 to 105 kgs in 6 months (it kept fluctuating when she was on steroids post-each chemo). She is now undergoing radiation therapy which will last a month. She takes 10 units of Lantus at night. Her aim is to get free of all diabetes medication when her treatment is done.
Maybe the LCHF diet has also helped her tolerate the chemos? I don't know. She has been drinking lot of buttermilk, eating vegetables, lots of lentils, less rice (brown rice), some brown bread and oats dosas and dalia (broken whole wheat). Her fasting sugar ranges from 110-114, and PPBS 140 or so. Importantly, her general health and energy levels have been good. Exercising - not much, really at present. She plans to do it when the weather warms up.
Sorry for such a long post. I am happy to be here with all of you!
I m sorry to sound off but I m really feeling so frustrated that I don't see half of what I read here being done in my country in the government hospitals.
Well Hidden sir... this T2 is just like hydra.... multi headed.... why we became diabetic has many reasons....some would believe it is due to wrong food habits..some would say it is due to pollution.... some would say due to genetically modified grains.. etc
But real cause is unknown....
No one knows the exact remedy... we all are searching....experimenting...
This forum is for all of us to share our experience...
Yes, you said it...let us have a look at it, without being biased...we all know prevention is better than cure, maybe some day we will find it, and leave the future generation at least a clue...
I tend to think that there may be many reasons for becoming diabetic - wrong food habits, obesity, whatever. But the main trigger seems to be stress. I my daughter's case, there was a major fight between her and her husband last year: he left the house, and came back after 2 months. The kind of tensions she went through are what I think triggered the diabetes, and perhaps the cancer? These are grey areas that medical research does not touch. What part does stress play in triggering diabetes?
Never heard of. And now you are devoid of insulin !! Two week old infant is a very early age to decide such drastic step. Well i should not doubt the treating doctors and US health care. Is/ was your mother diabetic ?
Have they removed whole pancreas ? I mean you said most of. What does that mean. I'm really shaken to think about your story.
Digestive enzymes etc taken orally can't fulfil pancreatic secretions. There are so many trace elements and the digestive enzymes themselves are protein, many of them. So must be enteric coated. Frankly i'd like to know from you how effective are the oral enzymes and if you can eat anything and everything i mean that a diabetic can.
The pancreas is a sliver left. Very small. The pills do work, but needs to be taken with lots of different foods or it doesn't get digested and I could have cramping because the food is not going anywhere.
Good night! We will have our next meeting in a few weeks. Will let you know when and what time. Probably the same time, but need to check with the schedules for everyone.
Sorry I missed it all! I haven't been getting HU posts since before Christmas. Thought I d been dumped or something. Have read all the 'meeting' posts, very interesting. Nice to see so many friendly people chatting. JanR
We will try after my daughter's radiation therapy is done. Yes Anup, pushing the envelope is a hard one for a vegetarian, but I think it can be done. You, Sir, have been a great inspiration to me in this whole process. I see you indefatigably repeating advice for new members who, out of distress, are asking the same questions, without reading up on the links and you patiently respond.
As a caregiver, I have learnt a lot from HU and you. I am forced to be creative and discover how veggie foods can be prepared in various ways so we don't feel deprived.
Mitochondria are the powerhouses of cells without which cells can't survive / live. And cancer cells have uncontrolled proliferation and respiratory activities. They can't be without mitochondria. Please read this.
"Contrary to conventional wisdom, functional mitochondria are essential for the cancer cell. Although mutations in mitochondrial genes are common in cancer cells, they do not inactivate mitochondrial energy metabolism but rather alter the mitochondrial bioenergetic and biosynthetic state"
The issue with cancer cells is they don't obey natural rules.
Shashi. Like our body cells have genetic material in the nucleus mitochondria have their own genetic material.
😝😝😝😝. It's alright. But i'm happy i get a chance for revision. Talking to you gyus is the toughest thing and i can't make any loose talk. During my residency I used to ask many questions out of an effort to learn everything and my teacher(s) always used to tell me that "you (i) can make mistakes but i ( my teacher ) have to give correct answer. "Par aap log kitna padhate ho yaar. Kitna gyan rakhate ho. It's always good to go to the roots of a problem.
That's exactly my point. There should be some study to establish if keto diet can be used to treat cancers. By the way diabetes is considered a risk factor for cancer.
Dear all
I was in a low signal area
Hence unable to participate
3 days meeting and then 7 days holiday in a low coverage area. Back yesterday
One point:
Facility to upload images
Anyway diabetes has to be controlled by
Diet
Exercise
Some help from some natural stuff like herbs initially
No worries Hidden ji though we missed you... may be u can participate in next meet....
This is a very good concept launched by our admin Activity2004 to bring all active members together to share there thoughts....
This will be regular practice in future....so we can exchange thoughts and come up with new ideas..
One suggestion made by alwaysoptimistic was most wonderful suggesting to award active participants with some badges...this will encourage members to participate and contribute more for the benefit of other fellow members...
