Normal range is 90 - 110

This is not normal though lab range is wide. Fasting BS should be less than 90. Check you post meal sugar also.

Non-diabetics have their FBS in between 75-85.

I checked this through a glucometer while I was fasting.

Check FBS (lab), PPBS (lab), Hba1c, fasting insulin and lipids.

check multiple times ...ppbs specially after eating some sweet or white rice...or juice

Dont get lost with buzzword "diabetes" ...fasting bs ...fasting insulin...understand your body ....

Fasting insulin is good and fasting bs is fair ...though not very good ...cut down carbs...everybody lose their beta cells diabetic or non diabetic ....if beta cells are lost beyond a threshold one is declared daibetic ...so forget about the buzzword "diabetes"... :)

Cutting down carb will decrease the load on pancreas to keep up with load of carbs...and thus it will get chance to rest and recover its lost beta cells...eat atmost 3 meals a day and dont snack much ...as this will give rest to digestive system and lighten the load and give opportunity to recover

Good sensitivity to insulin, less beta cell function.

HOMA can be used to assess longitudinal changes in β-cell function and IR in patients with diabetes in order to examine the natural history of diabetes and to assess the effects of treatment. For example, the model was used in the U.K. Prospective Diabetes Study (UKPDS) to demonstrate the effects of sulfonylureas and metformin on IR and β-cell function, compared with diet, over a 6-year period (26). The study showed an initial increase in β-cell function (from 46 to 78%) at 1 year in subjects on a sulfonylurea, followed by a steady decline in function to 52% at 6 years. Subjects on diet only (n = 486) exhibited a gradual decline in β-cell function of ∼4% per year. Insulin sensitivity only changed in subjects on metformin (n = 159), increasing from 51 to 62% at 1 year and remaining at 62% at 6 years.

cure @anup

These above results show that only Metformin is more effective in increasing insulin sensitivity and BCF than other drugs like sulfonylurea or diet only treatments.

Calcualation of structure parameters is based on a fasting plasma sample, and it is derived by use of the insulin-glucose product, divided by a constant: (assuming normal-weight, normal subjects < 35 years, having 100% β-cell function an insulin resistance of 1)

HOMA-IR = [Glucose] * [Insulin] / 22.5 (Glucose in mmol/l)

HOMA-IR = [Glucose] * [Insulin] / 405 (Glucose in mg/dl)

HOMA-Beta = 20 * [Insulin] / ([Glucose] - 3.5) % (Glucose in mmol/l)

HOMA-Beta = 360 * [Insulin] / ([Glucose] - 63) % (Glucose in mg/dl)

IR is insulin resistance and %β is the β-cell function. Insulin is given in mU/L. Glucose and Insulin are both during fasting.[2]

This model correlated well with estimates using the euglycemic clamp method (r = 0.88).[2]

The authors have tested HOMA extensively against other measures of insulin resistance (or its reciprocal, insulin sensitivity) and β-cell function.[3][4][5]

A new version of HOMA, called HOMA 2 is recalibrated to modern insulin assays. It can be calculated with software from Oxford University called HOMA Calculator, however equations have not been published.

karch but look at parameters.... is says assuming normal-weight, normal subjects < 35 years, having 100% β-cell function an insulin resistance of 1

Now if we give weight to various parameters....our calculations may go wrong...

But atleast we will have some idea...

and is it due to Gluten sensitivity???

cure profile image
cureAdministrator

yes....it is all about insulin secretion...and not about health....and that proves your point that with use of sulfonylureas...initially patient will get relief...but eventually he will shift on insulin injections...

Q is : apart from autoimmune case of diabetes ...why does BCF decline and why dosent beta cells has low chances to recover ...when other organs cells are regenerated periodically why doesnt pancreatic cells ??Is diabetes a combined problem with liver + pancreas + ?? some other X organs ?? ...

Anup...you are keeping your BS levels below 120 (and being very strict about it )at any time since 6 years and still you say beta cells didnt recover ?? why didnt Beta call regenerated even if giving them suitable environment to recover ....what else is missing in this story ...some nutrition or some other organ recovery is ignored ?? what is the unknown factor/s "X"?

cure profile image
cureAdministrator in reply tokarch

question is....why Alfa cells are also not getting destructed???

Why only beta cells???

@anup have you very done your fasting insulin and beta cells function 5 yrs ago??? or recently??

do u find any improvement???

What are Lipase and proteinase and how they can play role in healing T2DM?

Qs:why doesnt Beta cells get reconstructed ? why out of so many delligent people like Anup in forum , none got cured except George ...

There is something else doesnt get repaired in the whole process of T2DM....is it liver or something else?...

Why body lose its ability to reconstruct certain cells after certain age say just after 40 ?

Thats where we need doctors to explain the answer of these questions?

karch profile image
karch

hmm...if you follow this rule ...then only 10 % ppl are non-diabetic and rest are diabetic??

No...living on extremes is good ...but that creates a constant stress in body ...living under the hood of constant fear ...is this something we like to live for another 50-80 years ?? :) ...

BTW Cure is not hoax ...it happens on this earth ... only thing is diabetes is much more complicated than healing of a wound by body automatically

If in any dark corner of our mind we feel defeated and hopeless for cure ...cure can not happen :)

P.S. : I learnt a lesson : Its easy to convince n people ...but very very(goes on :) ) ....tough to convince our own self truely:)

karch profile image
karch

Let it rot , who cares :)...leave something on GOD...why taking stress everytime and increasing IR automatically :)

todaysdietitian.com/newarch...

By reducing the pressure of infinite loop in mind related to stress of increasing bs and rotting body...you can add 20 more gms of carbs (120 :)) some day in daily diet :D

BTW once upon a time mediating for 20 mins deeply...I reduced 20 pts of bs in 20 mins...isnt it an achievement ??

karch profile image
karch

no no ...dont do that ...I have chess addiction and I do it almost daily and it never works :)

karch profile image
karch in reply tokarch

Actually I feel there is unknown tension in each and every muscle of body and if you willfully release that tension ...through meditation ...it increase overall blood flow in body and promote better metabolism of carbs and body works efficiently thereafter

pehle bhajan kirtan/ppoja path meditation jaise karte the ...ab meditation karna hoga :)

Now a days ...even in joint family people are less tolerant and so dont think merely joint family will solve the issues...every individual has to change from inside and become more socially , family wise and personally responsible rather than seeking their own freedom/space ...things are more complicated than olden days ...tv...internet ...mobile se kahan time hai(whatsapp/kakao din bhar buzz kar raha hai) ...ki logon se baat karein :)

So bhai @anup i think it is necessary to know your BCF and IR....so you can modify your diet more efficiently to achieve better number with less efforts.

cure profile image
cureAdministrator

hmmm @anup ji we always talk about proof... not opinion...

We really don't know what was IR and BCF of ShooterGeorge at the time when he got diagnosed.....

Same case is with you....

We really don't know what is his BCF and IR at present when he claims cured....

We also don't know if LCH * diet helped you in reducing IR.

None of international stalwarts those gets quoted in forum ever gave reading in regards to BCF and IR...

Hmmm its all puzzle....

I just requested Hidden to do those tests as he is experimenting on Vijaysar which is said to heal beata cells....yes heals...

Oh that is your choice @anup bhai....

you may opt to eat or not....but atleast you will have mental satisfaction...

Hmmm @ anup bhai... even with full blown Diabetes... at Hba1c 13+ I retained around 60% BCF....

There is all possibility many ppl even must have retained better...90% may be.... they can enjoy bit more life than us???
