Effect of Atenolol & Amlodipine on Blood Sugar

Have been taking the below:

Morning: Teneligliptin(20)+MF SR(1g)+Glimpiride(2)

Evening: MF SR(1g)+Glimepiride(1)

My last BP reading was 150/90, Pulse 76

Doctor prescribed Amlodipine(5)+Atenolol(50) and said that in due course BP meds would be tapered down and advised increase in physical activity (eg: brisk walk)

Now I want to know what effect the BP meds would have on my BS level.

Hello. If ur prescribed bp medicine by Dr u shd have it. And if u want u can go for second opinion also regarding doses. Recently my friend aged 47 yrs non diabetic was diagnosed high bp by gp . so he was also prescribed 5 mg amlodipine. There are so many people around suffering from both bp as well as sugar and are taking medicines for both. Don't worry about it.

Yes, I realized a lot of people are taking such a combination & suffer from diabetes too. I was just curious whether 150/90 reading required medicine.

I think so it requires as 150 is high. 90 is OK. Ur prescribed 2 drugs. U can take second opinion regarding dose and number of drugs that whether this much medicine is needed or not? . I mean 1 drug and low dose either 2.5 or 5 mg to control it. Along with diet control and brisk walk. So if u wish u can take second opinion. I heard 130 / 90 is OK for people in age group of 40 or plus.

U can consult with d same doctor also and ask his opinion that if u go with 1 drug and dose of 2.5 or 5 mg to see its effect for 1 week that whether it is able to control or not? Then u can go for second drug if not controlled. I guess ur feeling that already ur o. Diebities medicine now y don't want to be on hypertension medicines also and wish to control it without medicines.
