High sugar: what is diet plan for high sugar? - Diabetes India
High sugar
Less carbs, including fruit, and more fat and protein is the standard recommendation. Not all carbs are created equal, and the most important thing is to limit or avoid starchy carbs (bread, pasta, potatoes...).
Not all fruit is created equal either. Apples, pears, cherries, and citrus fruit contain relatively little sugar, compared to exotic fruits like bananas and pineapple.
It also depends on what you mean by "high sugar". Out of range (diabetic) or still within range, but close to the upper normal limit, which could indicate insulin resistance?
As far as I know, diabetes 2 can sometimes be managed with diet changes alone, whereas others need drugs as well.
I am totally disagre with this diet specially long term sugar control.
We should not blem to carb like starch read Dr. John McDougal diet plan.Dr.T. Campbell China study etc.
Reduce carbohydrate by 10% in every meal and leave a little space in your stomach. Avoid late night food.Replace all oil by Virgin coconut oil for good vegetable fat. Go for a regular normal walk. Sit straight in padmasana or any Asanas for half an hour and do prayer with out any movement of the body. You will get relief from Diabetes.
Reduce carbs specially grains and starchy carbs..
I eat many mixed non starchy vegetables daily, but i did not see my BS level above 140 after one hour...
Dear All
If you all want to know about better diabetes control then better read Dr Richard Bernstein book on diabetes.
He was a juvinile diabetic.
Still alive and crossed 80 years of age.
He advocates low carb high fat diet.
Please read. He is the real inspiration because he preaches what he practices and is suffering from diabetes.
Rest all are just there to sell books and earn money.
try saying No to any kind of grains, dairy products, artificial sweeteners and sugars. Stay on boiled vegetables, lenthils and soups for couple of days and observe the change
There are four important factor to control your sugar level. 1) medicine 2) diet control 3) regular walking and exercises and 4) education about diabetics. As far as diet is concerned you should maintain your food item which contain 1200 calories only per day along with the other above three factors. The food habit may depend upon the place where you are living for ex., south indian food , north indian food etc., Don't change your food habit which lead you to several confusion. Pl consult a dietician who may suggest you a very good tasty menu containing 1200 cal. If you follow it your sugar will be under control. All the Best wishes.
hi colleagues, thank you for your advice. I have loved the forum coz I have learnt a lot within the short time but still confused of the food I should eat or not. I was diagnosed in Jan 2016. am a prediabetic and Grade 2 fatty liver. my doctor advised me to stop foods high in fats milk products, nuts and red meat ( eat beef once in a while. I was advised to eat low carbs and avoid anything with sugars.
I live on banana (not ripe), potatoes, porridge(millet mixed with sorghum and soybean), beef, fish, chicken, beans, soybean, mushroom, broccoli, cucumber, beetroot, cabbage, carrots. Fruits(only orange, apple, red grapes, avocado, mandolin and lemon on salads and tea) I drink water, green tea, ginger tea, aloe herbal tea and lemon. my heart tells me that am missing something. because I have reduced on portion I feel am eating less or much. especially when its fruits I eat 2 apples, one orange, lemon and grapes on my pam per day(I feel this is too much). I have lost 2.4 kg in 2months.
Any advice? I appreciate
Thanks.
