My diabetes was under control for quite a long time(may be 8/10 years with HbA1c-in the range of 6.5 7.2).But all of a sudden with no specific reason I had severe pancreatic attack which increased my Blood Ameylese level to 1100 against normal range of 70 or 80. My doctor stopped Metformin and prescribed Glymiperide instead.
Want to know whether Metformin cause Pancreatic attack

Thank you very much for your advise.I am 70 and having severe diabetic effects like I had bye pass, gallbladder removal, frozen shoulder, peripheral artery disease etc.My reason of saying diabetes i control because number of times I had severe hypo problem upto 40.Thats why my doctor is suggesting to avoid hypo by maintaining Hba1c to 6.5 to 7.
With high carb diet + medicines this will only happen.. Either too much sugar or too low sugar.. With LCHF diet there is no need to worry about hypo at all.. I also heard that people with no gall bladder also can go with LCHF.. Please try it for few months and see the benefits... All the best...
