Whether it is bread or chapathi or jowar roti , any thing should have a right mix of carbs , proteins and fat .That is carbs coupled with proteins , fats , vegetables ,should be in right proportion to give nourishment to the body .When a war was waged against fat , people were told not take ghee saying that would con tribute to high risk of strokes and heart attacks .But nearly 3 spoons of ghee is very good for heart and brain . A normal healthy person should take 30 gms of oil per day on an average . Complete absence or very minimum oil is the cause of many joint pains.

If you mix with saya and barla then this is more banificial for all.

For diet plan which roti has less calories

Food intake should should give satisfaction also . Only carbs and little fat or only fat with no or little carbs is not palatable in the long run . With bang we will come back to our staple food after some time . Too much of any thing is not good for the system .So moderation is the key , not exclusive carbs nor exclusive fats .

one third of ragi , one third of wheat , one third of any dal and other grains is the best .You can make a roti with a spoon of ghee and a small spri nkle of nuts . It is tasty , satisfying , keeps you longer with out hunger.

Baisan mixed with atta onion pint of zeera baked with little oil is good for diabetic do reply

yes . That;s the scientific way of eating . All grains contribute to carbs count . But rice only 80 grams can make one feel starved and always think of food only and nothing else . Of course you would give a counter to this saying that it is a personal variation.. But fact remains , that other grains like zowar , ragi ,wheat take a little longer time to digest and get converted in to sugar.

No where our ayurvedic science said to eat only carbs and our typical Indian food contains all the necessary nutrients with right amounts of ghee, spices , nuts etc all . Of course our nuts are cashew and groundnuts melon seeds but not almonds or walnuts. It our food has got wide veriety too . They used turmeric , pepper , zinger, zeera , til oil , tamarind , amla , dry mango pieces. ,coconut etc all in right proportions which make the food tasty and healthy. Now the modern medicine is trying to find out the health benefits of these ingredients and to get patented their findings if possible. As far as the question of effects of food is concerned , the recommendations of these modern scientific studies is not cent per cent correct..They are just borrowing from our ayurveda and making experiments on rats and cats and monkeys , as if the gastrointestinal , immunity , physiological , psychological and other systems are same . Of course at a later stage they experiment on humans also to find out the full implications of their findings.

My doc advice me after food blood pressure medicine before food

mixed roti was experimented and found out to be efficacious in keeping hunger at bay and thus reducing the need to take food often and more . Diabetes is only a metabolic disorder and not a disease.Wrong eating, , wrong

sleeping , resting , eating unhealthy food ,more and more eating of sugary products , less or least exercise ,excess mental strain, uncontrolled emotions all contribute to this malady . Metformins or other medicines the primary constituent of which are hydrochloric acid just suppress the symptoms but do not weed out the problem.Lifestyle changes are the only solution.Toxins built up in the body take time to get thrown out completely . So for sometime to get relief , one can take those medicines, gradually reducing the dosages and adopt life style changes once the changes take place we our self know the subtle changes in the body . Diabetes is the only disease where the patient himself is the doctor and has to work it out from with in.But in the meanwhile he has to do regular monitoring with the help of a doctor and tests.

Very well said thanks

You can't lead a life of lchf , or insulin shots or supressing drugs , for ever. One has to come back to normalcy slowly as far as food and exercise serenity of the mind are concerned. In other words we have to go back to childhood to be happy and healthy .

If whole day sugar level ok but fasting is lil high like 120 or 125 so what to do

if you stop eating much food and starchy food at least 4 hours before going to sleep , take Ashwagandha ---a homeopathic preparation bought in a homeopathic pharmacy --- 10 drops in a cup of lukewarm milk before going to bed , Falling asleep with beautiful soul searching music , which shuts of all emotions from mind except bliss , the fbs comes down automatically . This also I had seen in many patients. Take all medicines at least 3 to 4 hour before sleep . Take only Ashwagandha before sleep . It is not the exact panacea for all problems , but is a foundation for many.

smunjal profile image
smunjal in reply to

Ashawgandha is not homeopathic medicine, it's Ayurvedic medicine

in any case Fbs can be up to 120 with out going in to frenzy.

Ashwagandha is a medicinal herb . But many herbs are made in homeopathic way -- triturated and potentised to be used in homeopathy WE have many medicines prepared like this . We have staphalococcin , streptococcin , pnemococcin ,typhoidinum , tuberculinum etc prepared and used beneficially .Tinaspora homeopathic preparation is used with good results in diabetes . Tinaspora is guduchi. This is for your kind information.

Hello Anup Sir. I am taking 4-5 roti per day (50% wheat + 50% flax=1 roti).Because flax has 29 gram corbs in which 27 g Dietary fiber(100gm). Is it good idea for roti as fiber are not responsible for spiking BS ?.

shrisamarth profile image
shrisamarthVolunteer in reply to

Even with fiber the quantity of roti is high. And too much fiber is also not good. If you are adding 50% flaxseeds in roti then you are eating at least 108 gm through flaxseeds and when other sources of fiber are added then it will go beyond 140 mark which is very high consumption of fiber.

Ground flaxseeds should not be heated. The oil in the flaxseeds is very heat sensitive.

Thanks Anup Ji. Pl. let me know when to eat diabetic medicine before or after the meals.

Lchf advocates TALK about ' fiber menace , carb menace , caloric menace ' and many more menaces , but never about fat menace.
