Diabetes in transgenders(LGBT ).

It appears that no authentic data is available on the rate or percentage of LGBT suffering from diabetes. The whole group presents an unique health disparity . Almost all require hormonal therapy , male to female or vice versa. So even if they suffer from diabetes, its management will pose a definite challenge .

Two hormones are used commonly. If male to female oestrogen and if female to male testosterone is used. I will not call it cosmetic. Not only physical appearance but psychological aspect has to be taken into consideration.

Please note that transgenders also carry social stigma. So I think first diagnosis of diabetes,then educating them about diet , physical excercise , as well as following a medication regime. Not only these pose a problem, the concurrent use of male or female sex hormone, as the case may be,may interfere with oral hypoglycemics .

It is an unusual subject and to my knowledge in no diabetic forum around the globe this subject has ever been raised. Perhaps because of social stigma attached to LGBT ,people are not forth coming to talk about.

It is my endeavour to bring into notice of diabetics to the special care and need ,this group requires. They deserve a lot more attention and need high lighting their problems.

PLEASE DO NOT NEGLECT LGBT,THEY NEED AND DESERVE YOUR ATTENTION.

Actually,it is my mistake. Lesbian and gays,they are biologically normal persons,so no special management is required for their diabetes.

It was my intention to draw attention towards bisexuals or more precisely transgenders.
