My doctor prescribed this drug just 2 months ago as I was putting up weight. He told that will lesson the weight and has no side effects. But, the first side effect I got was very severe constipation. I have history behind constipation and therefore, I stopped it without Dr.'s consent. I informed him my problem and he said though it is very good drug for me with high fluctuating sugar, if I feel uncomfortable to avoid it. What do you suggest in its place??
Glimpride 1 mg.: My doctor prescribed this... - Diabetes India
Glimpride 1 mg.
Follow the doctor's advise.
Dear Meet77, I am not only diabetic but also a patient with CABG done during 1999. I mean had a bypass surgery done. For this reason I try to avoid fatty items. What is your alternate opinion on this case?
Thanks
I think you need to have some or other medication for your condition. You must ask your doctor to prescribe an alternate medicine. You need to Drink Plenty of Water and have regular exercise including Brisk walking in the Morning which will get rid of Constipation. Glimpride 1 mg is a good drug and I suggest you must continue that. If Suger level is not coming down, then you may think of other alternate drug or insulin. Constipation also need to be managed.
How to manage constipation and renal fissures due to this. I am already on Insuline please read article above replied.
It is a great mistake to stop diabetic medicines. If you are in chennai ,Bangalore,or Madurai you can consult Dr.Mohan's diabetic centre. GPs are not specialised in diabetic management. Diabetic patients get various problems ,only top specialists could get you relief on specific problems. Take High fiber food, lot of water. You have not mentioned you Fasting sugar or PP sugar or HbA1C. Besides sugar you should check your Kidney, lever functions besides lipid profiles. Thyrocare also get you thorough blood tests at an affordable price. You can contact your city Thyrocare blood collection centre. I am aged 75 I am managing Sugar for the last 35 years. It is an ordeal cannot be taken casual.
I am on insuline for the past 31 yrs. Mixtard 30/70 (100U). Dosage 24in morning and 26 in evening. My weight was 68 kg after my bypass and remained still 2010. now it is 74 kgs. height is 5' 7", bs (last on 17th, Fasting 193mg/dL.
Thank U.
Your High Sugar is an indication of Low cholesterol. Your constipation is also confirming your low cholesterol. Kindly check your profile.
Serus HDL cholestrol (32) only is law for the past 6 months. Rest all Lipid profile items are normal.
Only way to increase HDL is by taking / consuming Plant proteins @ 75 - 80 grams per day preferably before 4.00 pm in the evening. See the results in just 10 days.
please do not forget to give feedback.
Sridhar can u please inform details about plant protein Which item contain plant food What r the food consumed before 4 PMcan u explain detail ?
Normally protein takes more time for getting digested. That is why we need to consume protein before 4.00 pm.
When we go to bed 70- 75% of digestion should have been completed. this is reason for giving enough gap between dinner and bed.
If we consume complex carbohydrate at night like oats etc we may find that next morning Fasting sugar might be low but definitely you may find PP sugar being high.
There is 100% cure for T2DM; only with food; no medicine is required. You will start finding changes from 3 days on wards.
Carbohydrates which has been our food for 40 years cannot turn into poison suddenly after 40 years.
If you try to address T2DM only by controlling carbohydrate, then it is impossible.
Mere high value of HDL is not going to protect from heart decease.
Reversing from insulin to tabs is very difficult and normally does not work also as proved in my case. I am on insulin last 10years out of 20years diabetes when switched over to insulin I got good control of sugar. In order to avoid inconvenience during travel and functions I tried twice switching to tabs from insulin but failed and confirmed by diabetalogist that tabs hereafter do not work though tabs used are very good. Glimpride with metformin etc 4 tabs a day.
HDL is nothing but combination of protein and Lipids i.e cholesterol. HDL contains nearly 55- 60 % of protein and just 7-8% of cholesterol. Just imagine how could you call / get hdl with just saturated fat?
My triglycerides were always more than 200 for years, within two month on LCHF diet it came down to 98 which, honestly surprised me. HB A1c also improved to the normal range.
Best of luck to all.

I totally agree with you cscon. Whenever the HDL decrease, TG increase.
I have seen peoples suffering form various types of cancers( Prostate, colon etc),heart diseases,etc.etc.who consume high fat especially red meat. In the long run it is high fat which will damage your organs. Leave these or those studies in one corner, they are being influenced by one way or other ways. This is my practical experience and Doctors also support it.
