A great controversy is raging in the scientific world in the field of diabetes management.Apart from medicines and some form of physical exercise there appears to be no consensus about diet regimen.During last 50 years voices have been raise with scientific data claiming that conventional diets are not compatible with DM.Rate of complication never came down and disease took an epidemic form despite all advances made in its medication. So where lies the problem?Focus shifted to diet ingredients, carb, fat and protein .With better understanding of fat metabolism and function of insulin new ideas began to filter through. But as with every new idea which goes against the long held belief ,the new idea is not accepted and many times out right rejected.History is full of such examples.Be it Coppernicuss, Galilio or even Einstein.
So let us not disbelieve the ideas which are new.Same is true with diabetic diets .
In this forum we all are diabetics and trying to improve our lives through the personal experiences of fellow members. We write about our problems, our fears, about some thing which is mere heresay ,write very truthfully without any reservation in the the hope that some one in the forum will understand and help, not to be ridiculed and laughed at.Questions might be foolish but behind that we fail to notice the desparation to get rid of the monster called diabetes.
This article is not to defend or offend any body but to request honourable members not to pass sarcastic remarks against each other and show compassion to our fellow sufferers.

Very amusing. If fruit of a tree gets rotten ,in an orchard,we can not lebel. all trees rotten.
You have made a good point.I think it is point less to generate a controversy on a subject like this and on a forum such as this.As a long standing diabetic who has successfully manged the condition, I can confidently say that the problem is unique to each individual. One cannot advocate any conclusive method to combat diabetes. Each individual has to examine the causes that made him a diabetic. If it is Type 1,he will have to depend on insulin for life and probably a low carb diet, to the extent possible,is a must. But for Type 2,especially if it occurs in middle age,an analysis of his own life style will go a long way to address the issue. He would be genetically predisposed to get diabetes, but for the diabetic gene to manifest itself, there must be some extenuating factors like sedentary life style, obesity, very liberal eating habits, irregular lifestyle, binge drinking and so on.Once you analyse and pin point the reasons for your diabetes,it should not be difficult to find solutions for the same.Obviously, you cannot depend on any one single solution such as diet control or exercise or medication. It has to be a combination of all.Point is,one has to adopt a strategy that is most acceptable and suitable to himself .LCHF could be an option but I strongly believe that exercise should not be ignored as an important part of diabetes management and also for general health.Personally I find my daily 40 minutes walk as very relaxing, rejuvenating and and also enables me to enjoy my favorite music with out disturbance.
