Researched google, got some info...but quite debatable. Water melon is high on GI but low in glycemic load. Mango and banana are high on GL but moderate in GI. So, all the fruits in small amts can be eaten. How much is this small amt?? How many gms of mango?
Pineapple, jackfruit papaya are suggested by some sites, and some ask to avoid it.
I've been in the diabetic field for long, but still find it unclear. I can imagine the state of newcomers to diabetes, how confusing it can be. If someone has clear info abt how much can be eaten of the debatable fruits for diabetics, that will be helpful for everyone. ty!

Sine you are on to google, please do the following:
Make a list of fruits which you want to consider.
See thier carbs, GI, GL (indirect measure of dietary fibre), sugar or fructose content. Some sites give in terms of serving quantities (soon, bowl small pc medium pc etc,) Some people give in terms of 100 or 200 calories sizes. Many sites give in terms of 100 gms.
So please normalise everything to 100 gms.
Now, select your fruits : On the basis of low fructose and low GL
Ensure you do not cross 15 gms of fructose/day. , in any case not more than 20 gms.
When you do this you will understand where Mango stands in this list...
Good luck.
I have made such a list, It may be of interest to you. In case you want to try yourself, finewith me...
As many people have asked I will give the data about fruits in a blog. Just give me one day for some small trims.( I am not able to put excel sheets in this forum, My ignorance)
It is a list where I do not tell " Eat or NO eat", because that would be controversial. However, I would like to listen to people's views if they are backed up by cited knowledge....

It would be wise if you could give the details in a blog so that every one could learn and it may not be possible to send the details to every one at a time.

kkm: Yes, "eat or no eat" cannot quite work simply. I realize it is not black or white. It is complex, we shud try our level best to simplify for our own individual needs, as no two individuals respond identically to food.
Try to get ur own list which u prepared for urself on this forum for all the readers. It can only help.
Yes, Writing about fruits is an extremely difficult task as there are highly controversial topics related to food in general and to fruits in particular.
eg.
1.The eternal difference of opinion reg Acidic and alkaline foods, and their effect on the body metabolism.
2.One view that fructose is bad and even with fiber to accompany it, fruits have to be limited..The counterpoint is that your insulin sensitivity has got impaired with your high fat diet, Lower fats and increase the fruits portions. Not all of these proponents of theories are either reputed or the arguments scientific.
3. GI values are the result of an average of say 10 people for a particular food item; Tremondously limited in scientific argument. GL is only a derived parameter taking thefiber into account.
4.Fructose in excess leads to high uric acid (This is a fact of observation) But is it only for HFCS and not for fruits (sugar in the form of fructose). This topic itself is very contradictory.
So as one digs further one gets more and more confused BUT it is always possible to narrow down to our requirements, study the pros and cons and may be present to readers some facts and guidelines with out giving a clear 'Eat...No Eat ' type of hard rules. Necessary to highlight the importance of fruits in our nutrition as part of a balanced intake.
After all, fruits were the first source of nutrition on earth before the grains and dairy products.
As one researcher puts it" It is high time we considered fruits as staple food like wheat and rice."
FRUITS DESERVE A BETTER PLACE...
EVEN FOR DIABETICS..
( Give me some more time for the blog on fruits, I had only a table of data.... which is neither here nor there, without writing about the context of fruits as a source of nutrition, vitamins and minerals. Yes temperature may slightly go up in theforum... That is fine. The purpose of the forum will be served..... Exchange ideas and initiate discussions...)
I am delighted to note that you are ready to share your knowledge with others, otherwise people are trying to sale some thing and wants to make money even from sufferers.
If you can afford, try organic unpasteurized raw milk with full fat. Availability can be a question in many places. It is available in Bangalore in the name of Akshayakalpa in most of the organic stores. In some localities it is available for home deliveries. link: facebook.com/pages/Akshayak...
People in Bangalore can contact for supplies : info@akshayakalpa.org, Mob: 9900092392
Please send me the list of fruits with quantity can be taken everyday. I am confused because we get different opinions. Ultimately I stopped taking any fruit. Though I think I should take at least any one fruit daily. My email id: sankha91@gmail.com
Fruits contain fructose. While in excess it gets stored as fat in the body and also increses uric acis, a precurser for kidney stones, BP and some other complications.
Fructose is also equally bad.
Fructose gets metabolised by liver and hence is not though the glucose, insulin route..
