Good diet control is fundamental for effective management of blood sugar levels. But it is only a part of a comprehensive effort by way regular exercise, stress free life style and medication (where necessary). It is not either/or but all of them together to successfully fight diabetes.

The basic principle is to reduce intake of carbohydrate rich foods like rice, wheat.other grains, potato, beet and other root vegetables rich in starch. We can utilize carbohydrate energy only if we have enough insulin and that is not the case with diabetics. So,eat more vegetables, greens, sprouts and salads that give you more fiber, vitamins and minerals. You should eat less at each meal but can have more number of meals so that demand foe insulin does not peak with each meals. You can plan your diet based on these principles according to tour taste and lifestyle.

I sincerely wish that some type 1 persons try the Long-wheat Diet which CURED my type 2 diabetes in three years and enables me to be on NORMAL diet from 2009 till date. It can go in parallel with any medication you are otherwise following. That is the advantage of it.

Type 2 diabetes can be controlled by diet and exercise in early stages. Later, you have to take anti-diabetic medication. If medication is not effective in controlling high blood sugar, Insulin therapy is adopted.
