Adjustment of insulin in case of IDDM patients.
This was the question I had when I changed my ampule container with syringe of 100 iu/ml to pen cartridge of 300 iu/ml.
The answer is, please do not change the unit if are prescribed or taking at present, because depending on the strength (iu/ml) the dispenser will dispense the quantity for the same unit. for example if 100 iu dispenser pushes say 2 ml for 20 units, then 300 iu dispenser may dispense 2/3 ml for the same 20 units.
Therefore do not worry about the quantity of of the insulin to be injected, just use the same unit irrespective of strength of the insulin of the different dispensers. however if you are using same dispenser with different strength (though it may not be possible ; still...) then be careful about counting the units.
