rise of bg with LCHF

I am using LCHF diet already 4 years. It worked well, but during last 2 months I have often higher bg before lunch in spite of eating the same breakfast each day. Today I have 6,9 mmol/l (125 mg/dl). Usually I have between 5,6-5,9mmol/l. What is cause of such rise of bg ? Not food but may be less of insulin? Something wrong with pancreas. Your comment will be great help. Thank You in advance.

You probably have some residual liver dysfunction. Your liver's job is to keep your blood sugar up between meals by synthesizing glucose from whatever's available. When people have been diabetic (T2D) for some time, they develop "leaky liver syndrome", which can take a long time to fix itself (and may never resolve completely) even after switching to LCHF. The characteristic sign is persistently incorrect (too high) blood glucose even when there is no dietary factor that would cause it.

How long were you diabetic before switching to LCHF? Were you taking medication for many years?

Roughly what does your daily meal schedule look like?

Background. My husbad, 80 years now, have been diabetic for (?) ten years or more. Both his parents were diabetics so there is probably some genetic involved. He used sometimes (?) Metformin. He is type A personality, previously "super man". He did not take care of his health, in spite of my suggestions. For 4 years ago he had heart collaps, was overweight, high BP, high BG, get diagnosis Atrial fibrilation and bad prognosis. Than I take care for his health to my hands. I am physiolgist,previously researcher. We started immediately with LCHF, he lost 30 kg, his BG get down immediatelly. All his bioehemicalls improved and during last two years eveything icluding cholesterol etc was at normal level. Friends, MD did not believed that he ever had diabetes. For Afib he medicated with Sotalol Mylan 80mg x2 in the beginning , during last two yeats Sotalol M. 40mg x 2 and apixaban/Eliquis 5mg x2. He also get sometimes gout attacks which we now seem to have under control.

Untill last 5 moths everything was under control, he feels well , was walking 40 minuts x2 each day. He believed that he is heathy (diabetes and Afib are supposed to be irreversible..?) and start to drink more coffee and and sometimes some processed food. During that time started sometimes higher BG in spite of LCHF. He is measuring his BP, heart puls an BG before breakfast, before Lunch and before dinner. At september 12, he has high rise of heart pulse which continued to rise slowly but continuously. To make long story shorter he was electro cardioconverter to norml sinus rhytm at september 11. He use now only 1,25 mg Bisoprolol which is beta blocker but not antiarhytmicum. Until now he is OK, his BP and heart puls measurements are OK.

But his BG is often over 6 mmol/l = 106 to 120 mg/dl which is worse than it used to be. As there is some yet unexplained connection between diabetes an Afib I try to understand it at least little and do something to improve that. Now to his (and my) food:

Breakfast: every day both of us : piece of cold smoked salmon, 1 hard cooked ägg, little piece of French brie and halv of cucumber.

Lunch: LCHF recipes with calle or broccoli sometimes with other vegetables. Allways with onion and, garlic, different other spices. Sometimes fish, chicken meat or fillet of pork.

Dinner: every evening, halv avocado and halv cucumber.

Snacks allmons, sometimes a piece of dark (90%) chocholade.

Excuse for such long story but all suggestion and comments are very appreciated.

Hi, here I am again. Husband does not use any medication for diabetes. Higher BG is NOT in the morning , but often before lunch or before dinner. Does he eat to little food?
