Hi Sankath06, I had exactly the same problem with putting on weight with metformin and statins. My advice would be to talk to a diabetic nurse who you trust and she can put you on medication that can counteract those problems such as trulicity, a injection once a week. Also I have found that using a CMD once or twice if possible really puts into perspective your glucose levels on a minute by minute, day by day basis and you don't have to constantly prick your finger. It's a device that you get and you put on your arm and by swiping the device at any time with a compatible phone, which most phones are, it will give you an instant reading. It can cost to buy but if it is your first time your nurse maybe able to an initial freebie. It lasts for two weeks. I hope that helps a bit, take care you are not alone...M x

Good stuff! You're lucky to have a diabetic nurse who understands the physiology - we get a lot of horror stories on HU from diabetic/prediabetic members who are berated by their support team for reducing their carbs.

There is absolutely no reason for anybody to be on statins; that's doubly true if you're female. Until quite recently (when they triumphantly announced that statins have some statistically-miniscule effect for women) statins were marketed only for men who met certain diagnostic criteria, because the tests required for approval showed them to be worthless for anyone else. The rollout of statins to the entire population has been driven more by political/financial pressure than by medical science.

So true, I would only give statins to a rabid dog. Always other ways to go, that is why I have joined this forum, hoping to find other ways for my borderline diabetes 2, doctor SAID I do not need anything at the moment, have to travel as my doctors have not been open since March 2020 so not sure of opinion and diagnoses. Being careful sorting out my food and after 3 days waiting for my monitor my first fasting reading this morning was 7.5
