drinking 12-14 glasses of water - Diabetes & Hypert...
drinking 12-14 glasses of water
I really agree, water can make the biggest difference. I would also look at trying a vegan diet...many people have really benefited from getting their blood sugars under control using a plant based diet.
Thanks Concerned, you are quite right there is a lot of room for a shabby diet even in a vegan one. I used the words plant based to emphasise the need for plants rather than refined carbohydrates. I should add, yes a wholegrain approach, using beans, pulses and some nuts and seeds to offer protein sources that will help to stabilise blood sugars.
Fat sources and quantity are also really important. My understanding is that it is the fat coating the cells and flowing though the blood and lymph that hamper the absorption of nutrients through the cell membrane. The cell membrane relies on fatty acids and phospholipids to stay flexible and be the most efficient that it can...If it doesn't get enough fatty acids it may use poorer quality fats and oils and this makes for compromised absorption.
I quote from the RAVE diet (a vegan diet):
"Virtually all cases of adult-onset diabetes can be completely reversed with diet - and most within a matter of a few months or sooner"
But you are absolutely right ...the type of vegan diet needs to be addressed.
Best wishes.
Drinking too much water too fast can kill you. How much is too much. Surprisingly only 6 litres.
Good, keep it up.
