Just looking for some advice , im type 2 diabetic and went and saw a neurologist who not elicit the reflexes in my legs and found none in the feet he says it is not neurological and offered no further advice apart from putting it down to anxiety! i rung the diabetic nurse who said reflexes is not effected with diabetes so im unsure where to go from here does anyone have any insight ?

Hello Kaya12 Iam T2 as well I was given the bad new three weeks ago. I am not 100% Sure if These so called experts are well trained to deal with certain health problems. You are kind of left in a crossroad on this. I personally i feel that my GP surgery let me down for not explaining what is actually causing someone to be diabetic. When I was told that I was prediabetic I was only told to follow Mediterranean Diet. But that was what I ate and plenty of Cabs . I was wrong. I even joined the Gym and the weight was just pilling up. I now follow LCHF and I am amazed by the outcome. I hope that you get answers on here. All the bestxx

Loss of reflexes in the legs and feet ican be one of the symptoms of peripheral neuropathy and most peripheral neuropathy is caused by diabetes. Dropped reflexes are caused by nerve problems.

Good grief. Listening to stories like this makes me wonder what planet these people are living on.

Why would they have done the test if they didn't suspect diabetes-related neuropathy?

Fix your diabetes. However advanced it is, you still have a chance. I personally know someone who didn't even have her diabetes diagnosed until she noticed weird sensations in her feet. She has been following a low-carb high-fat diet (prescribed by her doctor) for nearly a year. Her HbA1c is now in the normal range, she's lost a whole lot of flab, and the nerve damage is actually healing, which I didn't think was possible.

Not what you're looking for?
