My cousin has hbp,has been on various medicacations but finally has found the right one which has brought her blood pressure almost down to normal, she was really delighted about this &GP seemed pleased too but still insists she goes to hypertension clinic as they may have better medication. she wanted to cancel clinic appointment as she was feeling really pleased & good on this medication but doc said she would ne better keeping appointment.. Why would this be she is rather baffled?

Thank you Osidge for your reply,my cousin is taking 1 canderstatan 8mg per day + 1 25 mg antenolol tablet in the morning + 1 antenol 25 mg tablet in the evening she has been on this amount for 4 weeks now & has no side effects,also apart from this she has onlybeen on 2 other medications. since ,firstdiagnosed earlier this year & both had some side effects,so was so pleased now that she was now on the right medication...
Atenolol is one of the older hypertension treatments (a beta blocker). The were, many years ago, the first port of call for hypertension and are still used. They are commonly used for arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation. A study called the ASCOT study found about 15 years ago that the more modern drugs are better at preventing serious problems. They may want to look at that side of things.
