Spouse can not sleep

Can anyone give me any suggestions. My husband can't sleep anymore than 4 hrs at a time, if he is lucky. He has type 2 diabetes, not on any medication. He takes medication for high blood pressure & prostrate issues. He does not eat or drink late at night. Any suggestions appreciated.

What's the Hypertension treatment? It often includes a diuretic which will get you up regularly at night. but it must be taken.

Does he (like me) eat plain chocolate in the evening? It can be a diuretic. Anxiety can also lead to regular waking. I suffer from this problem too and will be interested to read the responses.

Hope he works something out

I do observe similar situation of late even though my situation is a bit different. I'm type 2, on medications (Metformin 500mg BD, Amaryl 2mg daily). I'm not hypertensive and prostate relatively ok but I hardly sleep more than 4hrs. I don't know whether the sleeplessness is due to diabetes or not. In my situation I can't reach my GP easily because of the EVD outbreak in our country. When by any chance I take a glass of read wine, there I sleep better but I wouldn't want that often. Hope I'm going off track!!

Thanks for trying to assist. He has always been diagnosed as pre-diabetic until the last 6 months & is trying to keep it in check with diet. He is on Tamsulosin, Telmisartan, Lansoprazole & Dutasteride. I do know one medication is for acid reflux, not certain which one though. The problem really started after all this medication & getting up so often in the night to go to the bathroom. He gets up & can't go back to sleep again - 3 to 4 hrs at a time is the best he can get. At the moment he is trying acupuncture & chiropractor treatments. Any other suggestions appreciated. A.
