Is there a strong history of diabetes in your family?

There is one form of MODY diabetes (which is caused by a dominant gene) that has an onset between 30 and 45) and responds to a different regime from type 2 diabetes as it is actually closer to type 1. Not sure what the official name of the variant is - runs in my family but I don't have so not at risk of that particular form of diabetes - it affected/affects my grandfather, mother and brother. My brother had huge problems controlling his levels when he was being treated as if it was type 2 but has no problems (other than will power :) ) on the revised treatment.
