Hello,
My name is Oscar, I'm a final year Product Design student at Brunel University in London. Having just spent a year working as a designer at a medical product design consultancy, I am now developing a next generation device for diabetes management.
I am not a diabetic myself, and I know full well that I cannot design a product that will be even remotely helpful (let alone desirable!) without speaking in depth with diabetics about their condition.
I'll be running some self-conducted research over the next couple of weeks, that will ask those involved to complete a small activity book with a few short tasks in your own time. These tasks are easy, fun and light hearted - you are in no way required to do anything that might be embarrassing or painful. The point of these tasks is to more fully understand what it is really like to live with diabetes - the daily struggles, the little things.
If this sounds like something you might be interested helping with, I would be extremely grateful for your involvement! Please send me a direct message on HealthUnlocked, or email me at oscar.daws.1@my.brunel.ac.uk and I will fully explain the research so you can make a more informed decision.
I'd love to hear from anyone over 18 with diabetes (type 1 or 2), or if you are the parent or carer of a diabetic under 18 year old. At the moment I am only running this research for those who live in the UK, but if you're interested please do get in touch anyway and I'll let you know when I run something that's not country dependant. I have space for approximately 10 participants.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you!
