To everyone who does Try an IPAD it has an unbelievable control even when my tremors are at their worst!!! the screen allows me to get to the letters I want without hitting 6 other letters along the way because my hand is twitching and is hitting them on the way. It gives me away to continue to communicate when before I would be fustrated and at times get depressed. I have written to the Apple Corp. to make them aware what a help this is to people like me and that they could be helping so many more, but some can not afford them , if they are willing to help to contact the movement with a way to get in touch . I am hoping it will help . My whole family sent letters that is 30 it might make a difference.

Most of the newer computers are equipped with a program that translates your spoken word into text making it almost hands free. If your computer does not have this program there are several out there you can buy, for example: Nuance Dragon Naturally Speaking 11.5 Home Headset Full Version can be found on eBay for about $50.00. There are a few kinks in the programming but nothing you can't get around or fix. Well worth the $ for those who are "keyboard challenged"!

The voice actovation systems only works for people who do not have speech difficulties, that is why the apple I Pad is so good , it give these people a continued chance to communicate, to those they love and want to stay connected with.

THe new IPAD has a built in microphone that does not need training like the Dragon Dictate program, but my husband finds that you have to speak very clearly and slowly with no background noise. Dragon Dictate takes some training to get the program to know your voice, and does lots of commands-worth looking into for hands free dictation.
