My husband has been diagnosed with PSP, which has many similar symptoms to Parkinson’s. The Madopar he has been taking, along with Amantadine, for the past 6 months do not appear to have made any difference. Has anyone any experience of taking LionsMane supplements and which ‘may’ make a difference to the brain. He also takes a small dose aspirin as a blood thinner. Any thoughts?

any one with experience of Lions mane mushroom?

I've been taking Lion's Mane for about 2 years, It has completely eliminated the mild cognitive issues I was having. In fact, I feel sharper mentally than I have in many years. It kicks in about 2 days after starting to take it so it's very easy to tell if it is working. I know multiple people also taking it and they have had similar positive results. As far as I know there are no side effects. I use the Real Mushrooms brand.
Yes, Lion’s Maine is one of the first supplements that I researched and gave to my Mom who was diagnosed about a year go.
She takes it regularly ever since and from her own admission it is one of her most cherished supplements in the sense of her feeling like it helps her.
I believe it to be very beneficial and have experienced it’s positive affects as a 34 year old male myself.
The extract form is said to be most potent and contain most beneficial compounds.
Here is a link to the supplier I get my Mom’s from.
It is a bit expensive and has a taste aspect with the alcohol tinctures but if those aspects aren’t a problem I would highly recommend it and would definitely have it at the forefront in treating any neurological condition.
You can by powder forms which I have not tried, but do know that with any mushroom consuming the actual plant matter can give digestive discomfort to most because mushrooms by their very nature are not very digestible.

I live in Ontario Canada! I can’t get this to ship to me here. Any ideas?
If the madopar and amantadine are not helping they should not be taken. These medications are strictly for symptomatic relief. They also have adverse effects. If they're not providing any symptomatic relief there is no point and very good reason to not take them. I say this as someone who does use levodopa medication.
If he decides to quit he should taper off the madopar rather than stop all at once.
I was actually kind of surprised to see that Health Unlocked has a separate site for PSP.

HI, I have taken Lion's Mane powder on and off for the last 2 years. Every time I stop taking it, within a week or so I notice that I have a bit more brain fog and am not quite as sharp as I'm used to. Re-starting the powder always fixes this. So yeah, I think it's definitely worth a try.
