Summer has arrived
I see there are quite a few articles about antihistamines having an effect on symptoms so I suppose it would be good to know what if any side effects are also possible with specific antihistamines - for instance I saw an article that says that diphenhydramine may reduce stiffness and tremors but there could also be some problematic side effects
"Some side effects may be serious. If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:
vision problems
difficulty urinating or painful urination
Diphenhydramine may cause other side effects. Call your doctor if you experience any unusual problems while you are taking this medication."
Interesting! Also makes a connection between the liver and PD. I understand that Chinese medicine sees it as a liver issues, and the drug UDCA that is being trialled now for PD is currently used to treat liver issues. I also notice that Semnet 2 is open source, so those with some coding and statistically skills could explore other possible associations using the same technology but feeding in different terms.
This is a fascinating article for me. I have had bad seasonal allergies for years and I have this growing suspicion that they are some significant part of my PD, driven by inflammation. I know that I get pseudo gout (CPPD) flares every spring, and further that calcium crystals at the heart of the CPPD are a potent activator for the NLRP3 inflammasome. (NLRP3 is being targeted by several phase 2 PD drugs).
This article shows that I am not nuts thinking that these things are all linked.
levocetirizine is available over the counter in the US. Anyone trying it?
Really sad 🥺 that there is no good database to just look this up and see if there is a real correlation between levocetirizine and lower PD symptoms.
Thank you, but House2 already brought this article to our attention 4 months ago.
