A friend of mine with PD told me that his worst symptom was anxiety and it made him feel really bad most of the time. When I asked him to explain or describe what the anxiety was like, he said he didn't know how to put it into words other than to say it makes him feel miserable. He did tell me that B1 made a huge difference in his anxiety.
There are a couple of ways to look at it, but generally two days is a short test, however increased tremor is usually an indication of overdose of B1. You said you started B1 at 500 mg. Based on the information that Dr. Costantini left with this forum, a worsening of symptoms is almost always a sign of B1 overdose. When you combine that information with the fact that the effective dose range for B1 in PwP reported on this forum is from 25 mg/day to 4000 mg/day, you could easily have been in B1 overdose which could have accounted for the increased tremor. Some people are very sensitive to B1 as reflected in people who find 25 mg/day to be effective for them and their PD. Here is a link that explains how to test B1. In it it explains what your next steps should have been once you reached a level of B1 overdose :
I receive acupuncture at a local acupuncture school and it is very helpful for pain and anxiety. The reduced senior rate, and the school make getting acupuncture a several times a month possible. It is very frustrating that Medicare does not reimburse licensed acupuncture practitioners outside of MD's with certification, as they are few in number.
The University of Washington in Seattle does have an integrative medicine campus, but the nutrition help(unless diabetic)and massage are not covered. Acupuncture is, but for me, the distance would undo the benefit, so I feel grateful for the local school.
The study RA participants received acupuncture three times a week. Bliss!
