Being a newbie, I need advice on dosage of mucuna. I have been experimenting slightly with a Naka brand 15 % of 400 mg capsules and I am waiting for an order of provita powder to arrive which I believe is pure .
Mucuna dosage: Being a newbie, I need... - Cure Parkinson's
Mucuna dosage
If you’re referring to the Nutrivita 100% l-dopa derived from mucuna, there is nothing really “natural” about it and the only difference between it and pharmaceutical l-dopa is that it doesn’t have any carbidopa to help with the nausea. Please use the search function and you will find many posts about mucuna here.
I agree! I use naturebell brand 30% Ldopa 2 capsules 3x /day. I’ve just started experimenting with adding 1/2 tab carbidopa. The 99% is so refined I’m not interested and when I did try it, it was way too strong for me
How much of the 99 % did you take and how did it affect you ?
1/8 teaspoon, just too refined for my liking. The 30% has alkaloids intact and is still brown. I’m not interested in the refined white powder.
Hi Butterflygrandma, I am not sure about the dosage of mucuna from Naka and Provita brands. They seems not available in UK, but 400mg sounds ok, i.e. within the usual range. Depending on you stage within the PD scale, one or two 400mg pills per day is usually good for the early onset of PD.
I have never taken that medication so cannot advise you. However, let me ask you a questeion; Have you tried doing walking to genuinely feverese your symotoms? It really does work. You only have to walk every second day, for a maximum of an hour. You can start doing it for as little as two minutes and slowly build up of a period of time till you get to one hour. Allthe time, you try to walk as FAST AS YOU CAN!
If you relly want to get better, as I have, then satart today. Why wait till tomorrow?
I suggest reading this book - for those interested in using Macuna. The book is concise but comprehensive, including treatment guidelines.
hello - I am thinking / wondering: 15% of 400 mg would = 60 mg of levadopa. Since Macuna has no carbidopa, Dr Maldonado recommends green tea extract to act as the carbidopa.
Also order Daphney Bryan’s book: Parkinson’s and the B1 Therapy.

I have also heard that lemon juice , grapefruit juice or just citric acid / vitamin C works.
I think citric acid helps the digestion of the tablets in the stomach (boosting one's own stomach acid) whereas green tea extract helps the levadopa cross the blood brain barrier (which is the role of of carbidopa) so they are serving different purposes.
