Mucuna dosage help please

Can any of you bright folk help me out with the dosage here please. I take this mucuna powder 99.6% l-dopa. I find it really helpful. (See photo) Am I right in assuming that 1/8 tsp is 500mg which is equivalent to 5 senimet tabs of 25/100? Surely that can’t be right! What am I missing here??? (And yes I know it’s expired-it still works though)

I'm not sure of the question.

If it is: does 1/8 teaspoon equal 500mg?

Then probably about that. I bought a small jewellers scale for better accuracy but if you have measuring cups down to 1/8 teaspoon then they should suffice. I wouldn't try to eyeball 1/8 teaspoon using an actual teaspoon as you'll never get it right.

If the question is: boy that seems like a lot of CL, then the answer is this:

It is, but you need a lot more straight ldopa to match the impact of CL because you don't have the benefit of the carbidopa pushing the ldopa to the brain (that is a lazy description but it'll do).

Most of your pure ldopa will be cooked off by your body before it hits the brain, in the absence of carbidopa.

A rough rule of thumb is that you'll need somewhere between 3 to 5 times the levodopa if you don't have carbidopa (or benzaseride) but there appear to be people that have experience outside of that range, too.

Thanks for your reply. You have answered my question! It seemed like a lot of l-dopa. I usually have a small pinch of it with half a senemit so I do get some help getting it to the brain that way. Just didn’t want to be overdosing.

Ah, so if you having some sinemet with it, then that carbidopa will assist in the absorption of the ldopa supplement (as well as the ldopa in the sinemet, obviously).

That complicates the math, but need not complicate the strategy. The simple solution is to start with the sinemet, adding very small amounts of ldopa on each occasion until you find you get the desired level of relief.

For me I found that I know I would be overdosing with this stuff when my heart seem to race too fast and my blood pressure went to high and I started retaining a lot of fluid and I would vomit quite frequently. I don’t take 1/8 of a teaspoon right now and I just take a capsule full and put that in water and then take half of a tab like I said above. Usually seems to do the trick.

I used to take 1/8 of a teaspoon of Barlowe’s, but I kept vomiting quite a bit overtime so now I take a half of a 25/100. I do know that 1/8 of a teaspoon is equivalent to 500 mg but that is an awful lot hence the reason why I had to pull back because it just made my stomach nuts. Only reason why I take the half a tab of the 25/100 is so I don’t vomit when I take my one pill of Mucuna twice a day.

1 teaspoon is equal to 5000 milligram,

1/8 teaspoon is equal to 625 milligram from google

600mg will fill one 00 capsule if you want to make your own pills.

It's basically pure levodopa, so taking 600mg in one dose doesn't seem like a good idea.

Hi. I just noticed a BB date of 2018 which may affect the potency of the dose. Finally, has the labeled dose been certified by a third party certification body?
