I just bought some mucuna from Bulk Supplements, the seed extract in powder. I would like to replace one dose of C/L 125/100.
How much MP powder will equal one Sinemet?

Oops, I meant c/l 25/100
Also, I took 1 tsp by my calculations with 400 mg of EgCg , and it did nothing
There is no way to tell because Bulk Supplements does not state the concentration of levodopa in their Mucuna extract. Even if they did a similar dosage would not be equivalent because Mucuna does not contain any carbidopa, which helps the levodopa get absorbed intact. So you will have to experiment.
Thank you park bear!
If you can get the levadopa content specified on the bulk powder, the rule of thumb is 5 times as much levadopa without carbidopa. But even then a study which analysed claimed levadopa content found unacceptable variations in actual content

It's a bit of a roll of the dice
I use 99% Mucuna and kept experimenting with the amount until I got the relief I required. I used to know the exact mg as I bought a fine digital weighing scale. It equates to 1/4 teaspoon but as Winnie says it’s difficult to make comparisons if they don’t declare the %.
You must know the % ldopa for the powder...e.g. 100%, 40%. I take approx 4 times the 100% powder. That is, to replace a 25/100mg Sinimet I will use 400mg of 100% mucuna powder.. you would need a jeweler's scale. Note, this is just for me! I have no idea what will work for you as everyone is different. I suggest that you start low and increase until I you get a result.
I would start with a 2 gram dosage and work my way up from there, depending how you feel. Every patient is different and you have to find the right dosage
for you. I assume you take levodopa 2 or 3 times a day. I'd recommend for you to replace half your levodopa intake with mucuna for every time you take your meds. That way you minimize side effects like diskynesia.
Rather than "replace" one dose, you might try reducing your dose and adding mucuna. I take two tablets of Himalayan brand mucuna with 1/2 tablet of c/l 100/125 two or three times a day - have been for about 6 years now. I do see a progression of dis-ease, but it's still quite manageable.
I read the book of a renowned neurologist, Dr Rafael Maldonado, who conducted an extensive study of the effects of mucuna and other natural remedies to PD. According to him, you need 30 grams of powdered natural mucuna taken alone to have the same effect of 250/25 mg of Levocarb(sinemet). But , if you combine them together, the carbidopa of sinemet will enhance the effect of mucuna to the point where it can not be calculated exactly how much levodopa you’ll be getting for every gram of mucuna.
So this becomes a “trial & error” experiment.
Generally, though, he estimates that natural powdered mucuna has 3.33 % levodopa , so a gram can give you an estimate of 33 mg of levodopa.
