Unfortunately, Made in the USA greaaaaat price, usually does not mean quality, but almost certainly smart commerce. For example, the vitamin B6 uses Pyridoxine hydrochloride. It is better to use the non-toxic Pyridoxal 5 phosphate, an organic compound and the active form of vitamin B6. Pyridoxal 5 phosphate is considered highly efficient compared to (the cheaper) pyridoxine hydrochloride.
Vitamatics mission consists of Premium quality ingredients: “We strive to provide natural supplements created with pure and top quality ingredients to promote optimal health and performance”. However it doesn't say anywhere that these ingredients come from the US. In fact, most of the ingredients may come from other countries such as…..China and India. The plastic jar probably also from China. But the PRODUCT is 100% Made in the USA! 😀😀😀
1. 'made in the usa' must mean 'made in the usa' or BIG LAWSUIT!
Anyone seeing that on a supplement label has to "assume" the "ingredients" are ... indeed... "MADE IN THE USA" or that will definitely put a BIG SMILE on the faces of many lawyers
2. As far as the 'jar' ... we are not swallowing that
3. If you know of another vitamin manufacturer ... that says: "MADE IN THE USA" and "ALL INGREDIENTS are MADE IN THE USA" ... please share that with all of us
My impression is that in this case 'Made in the USA' is pure commerce. If they are honest, they state the origin of the ingredients. There are indeed some companies that show you the information.
Don't underestimate the impact of the packaging. It turns out that we also get unsolicited supplements from that...
i think unless you ask them directly where they received their ingredients from, that they imported the ingredients and put it together inside the capsule in the USA and then they can say its made here
it's a LOT more than that gaga ... when something (anything, really) says it is "MADE IN THE USA" then it is "subject" to many different laws ... regulations ... inspections ... certifications etc etc etc
especially when it is something that we ... swallow
You are too gullible PDWarrior1900. For 'Made in the USA' you need a US branch/phone number. That's what's being controlled! Most importantly, its final assembly must be in the U.S….Medicines must be approved by the FDA before they can be sold or marketed. Supplements do not require this approval. Supplement companies are responsible for having evidence that their products are safe, and the label claims are truthful and not misleading. At Vitamatic I would value the GMP control label more than 'Made in the USA'.
Indeed, pills may be manufactured in the U.S., but the largest percentage of the ingredients in dietary supplements come from outside the country. There are nearly no vitamin manufacturing plants in America. The same in Europe. About 64 % from India and China,16 % from the European Community, Rest of the world 20% of which 4% USA…
Although the control is better organised, this also applies to medicines!
well sorry on that - in the past I have seen information about an organization that tests supplements and certifies them but I can't seem to find the information right now
Well, as someone who really "studies" whatever goes inside my body (and you can tell from my scores of previous posts) ... "MADE IN THE USA" ... must ... be "MADE IN THE USA" ... or the company opens itself up to an 'easy lawsuit' if that is discovered... and it usually is from a disgruntled, fired employee who "blows the whistle."
-------------------------------------------
If you read the label of the supplement carefully, these are the "RED FLAGS" to watch out for:
1. "Manufactured for ... (name of company with a USA addresss)"
2. "Designed" ... "Processed for" ... etc ... followed by a USA address ...are all cleverly worded to "appear" as if that supplement was actually "MADE IN THE USA."
3. Of course, when there is NO mention at all (which is 95% of the supplements) of 'where it was manufactured' ... It's 100% it is NOT ... "MADE IN THE USA"
I’m only concerned that just like Made in USA or Made in Germany, there is no guarantee that the raw ingredients will also come from that country. The situation is more serious than I hypothesised and the graphs show that the share of Europe and the USA is still shrinking compared to India and especially China.
In addition, there is Vitamatic. When you see their website, the information about their business is very brief and unclear. No location of 'production', service, research and sales office. But there is a 'contact' with only a USA phone number! My suspicion is confirmed here that, just as so many companies, production will simply take place in India or China. Made in the USA???
The supplement industry - which by the way is an absolute racket as a consequence of having basically no R&D costs, high margins due to low costs of production and a great deal of marketing liberty due to little regulation - has people convinced that anything considered a 'supplement' has only two possible outcomes:
1. neutral - i.e it does nothing
2. positive - it helps
Which in the context of a disease with still relatively unclear pathogenesis and a yet-to-be-determined number of subtypes, is absolutely ludicrous.
How have you gotten comfortable that these 'supplements' - all 40 of them - are more likely doing you good than harm?
i guess you missed my opening post in which i said:
"Personally, I think most are worthless... But I take them hoping just '1' is doing me some good."
------------------------------------
I agree with your other points ... but still ... there are HUNGRY LAWYERS just waiting to file 'fraud lawsuits' ... 'damage lawsuits' ... "personal injury lawsuits" ... if these "MADE IN THE USA" supplement manufacturers step over the line.
“MadeInTheUSA.com has a rating of 1 star from 3 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. MadeInTheUSA.com ranks 91st among Reference Other sites.”
They have vitamatic on the label which seems a rip off of vitacost. I would be wary of them.
I appreciate the "heads up" on that company BUT BUT BUT.... only '3' reviews is laughable and inconsequential in measuring a company's product/service.
As far as any "name similarity" ... as a salesperson myself ... I consider that "good marketing."
I am not endorsing this compay, but from a British viewpoint I found the information about supplements on the British Supplements site insightful.Chris, the owner does rant a bit,but makes some interesting points about the vitamin/supplement business in general.I bought what was advertised as limone from a cheap supplements company recently..When I opened the capsule it contained codliver oil.I emailed,Got a refund, but interestingly not an apology for mistake or an offer to send me what I ordered. Here in G.B. the words made in Britain, mean just that, assembled here from parts from all over the world. It’s obvious that certain herb would never grow in out climate,so must come from overseas suppliers.I read recently that the Chinese pearl industry sends pearls to Japan to be strung, then they can legally be sold as Japanese pearls, which command I higher price, and it’s legal..
Just because it's American doesn't mean it's safe. Greedy people exist everywhere. You should watch the Michael keaton film on 1 American pharma family
The Sacklers owned and ran Purdue Pharma, the company that sold OxyContin, a high-strength painkiller that arguably fueled the opioid epidemic, responsible for the deaths of more than half a million Americans over two decades
I'm sorry but that's incorrect. Even The Flag (btw what a strange patriotic organisation) mentions “the raw ingredients that go into their products around the world”.
sorry, but you misread that section -- please re-read below because they were referring to companies.... other... than... the 3 listed on the web page
----------------------------------------------
Quality Standards
"The vast majority of vitamin suppliers source the raw ingredients needed for their products from locations around the world. To overcome the uncertainty of working with international suppliers, the best vitamin brands deploy rigorous quality control standards to ensure the raw ingredients they use to manufacture their products are of the highest quality available."
My English is not good, but I really read: “Thorne is transparent about the fact that they do source the raw ingredients that go into their products around the world, but the company deploys a rigorous four-stage testing process to ensure their vitamins meet the highest standards.”
Why would you want Made in the USA at all? There are 9 other countries that score better in terms of reliability of their products. Here is the list of statista.com in cooperation with Dalia Research. The recent update from last year and Ipsos have similar results. 🇩🇪 🇨🇭🇪🇺 🇬🇧 🇸🇪 🇨🇦 🇮🇹 🇯🇵 🇫🇷
ok if you think it's cheaper for you to fly overseas... pay more money to book hotels ... hack through the language barriers as your court case will be held in THEIR "native language"....
If it wasn’t for the USA …. The indigenous peoples of your country..... would be speaking.... Algonquian, Iroquoian, Siouan, Muskogean and many other languages that have become extinct as a result.
What time do you live in PDWarrior? Do you mean that by 1900? You may not understand that you are so unrespectful of people OUTSIDE the USA. Indeed, that doesn't help to make friends there. On earth, let's work together in any case in our CP group and show understanding regardless of the country of origin whether it is China, the USA or the small Netherlands. This French Dutchman does his utmost.
By the way, if the Dutch hadn't traded New York with Suriname at the time, you probably would have spoken Dutch now! 😀
